God, I feel bad about leaving some of those on the bench. And I'll probably wake up tomorrow, and change it completely!

For me its simple.

Im just going to go for the base of the team that :

1-won the league with the most points

2-scored most goals in a season (at the time)

3-most clean sheets in a season

4-conceded least goals in a season

...because you just cant argue with it

Cech

Bridge

Gallas

Terry

Paulo

Makalele

Lampard

Gudjohnsen

Duff

Robben

Drogba

I would honestly not bet against that team getting a result against anyone, even Brazil 1970

Eidur was immense in midfield. I was shocked to see how well he played there when he's a Support Striker. To be fair, he is just an immense player full stop.

Whilst there is no doubt Petrescu was a super player im amazed he has made so many peoples team, bearing in mind he only played about ten times for Chelsea in the decade!

And Melchiot has to to a joke right ?!

This would be my Chelsea XI for the Noughties:

GK: P Cech

DF: J Bosignwa

DF: J Terry

DF: M Desailly

DF: A Cole

MF: C Makelele

MF: M Essien

MF: F Lampard

CF: G Zola

CF: D Drogba

CF: JF Hasselbaink

GK: Cech (I like Carlo a lot and he is close second but Cech was one of our main forces when we achieved back-to-back titles).

RB: Melchiot ( One of the hardest ones to choose. There are Ferreira, Belletti as well but Mario was probably the most consistent and it´s a pity that he left before we won the trophy as he would have deserved it.

CB: Terry (A great captain and a true blue who came to the club when he was 14. A true legend. Defensively one of the greatest in the world and is Chelsea through and through.)

CB: Carvalho ( The second central defender spot is hard to pick. Maybe Desailly deserves it more but Riccy was a key-player during our title winning period and at one point he was probably the best central defender on earth).

LB: A.Cole (Bridge and Gallas did well there won the trophies but Ashley has been the most influential left-back in the club).

DMF: Makelele (was an engine in the team for a long time and we haven´t really find a replacement when he left. Arguably one of the best anchorman in the football history and the defensive midfielder spot is often called by him).

MF: Lampard (Already a legend and one of the most influential players in club and world football history in the past decade. His stability is out of this world).

MF: Essien ( Despite of his hefty transfer fee he has been a revelation in Chelsea in those five years. He can play in defensive role, he can play in offensive role, he can even play in defence if needed and he can score from headers, long-range efforts and simple tap-ins. Truely a complete footballer and there are not many of those in the world).

CF: Gudjohnsen ( Great footballer and great man who formed a deadly partnership with Hasselbaink. Jimmy might have scored slightly more goals but his contribution and determination were top-class. Had he stayed in the club we might have considered him as a legend).

CF: Hasselbaink ( The Dutchman was a clynical finisher and almost a complete striker. He scored an awful lot of goals and gave some assists as well. One of the Premierleague´s best strikers at the time).

CF: Drogba (There aren´t many better than him, are there? A complete striker who can dribble, has a great pace, is deadly from dead ball situations, can head the ball and can change the scoreline on his own. Despite of his anthics in the Champions League final 2 years ago and in Semi-Final last year, he still is one of the best strikers in the world at the moment).

Coach: Jose Mourinho (No explanations needed)

1 - Cech

2 - Pet Rescue

3 - Le Saux

4 - Makelele

5 - JT

6 - Gallas

7 - Duff

8 - Lampard

9 - Drogba

10 - Zola

11 - Robben

7 subs:

Cudicini

Carvalho

Essien

Wise

Gudjohnsen

Di Matteo

Crespo
