Confederations Cup 2017

Well, early signs of VAR are not good. Even with the VAR, the ref made a right mess of a situation in the Germany v Cameroon game. First he booked the wrong player, then he went to VAR, he then changed his yellow card to a red which was still for the wrong player, then he went back to VAR and finally sent off the correct player and i'm not even sure if it was straight red care challenge. This all took 3 minutes, 3 minutes which clearly wasn't added on to stoppage time at the end of the game. We still ended up with only 4 minutes stoppage time overall. So 3 minutes of VAR, 4 goals and celebrations, a bunch of subs........how has the ref worked out that the game should only have had 4 minutes of added time? It should have been about 8.

Oh my god. The Chile player was clearly taken out, Chile should have a penalty, the ref doesn't even bother using the VAR........this is exactly why it was bought in for goodness sake  :face_palm:

Even with VAR, the refs are still f**king up. If they are still going to be cocking up with the VAR in place, then why bother with it at all ? This tournament was supposed to be the biggest test of VAR so far.....well, this trial has quite clearly failed.

Ronaldo's arrogance cost's Portugal again. He only takes a pen in a shoot out when it's the winning penalty. He should be the first person to be taking a penalty in a shoot out. He did the same at another major tournament and Portugal went out then too. Brilliant player, but it's always got to be about him.

I agree the VAR is a complete mess atm. I can see that the officials on the pitch are so hesitant and confused. I have even seen a linesman not raise his flag for offside, thinking that VAR will rectify the decision. I was of the opinion that VAR would iron out some of the creases, in fact it's worse now than it ever was.

Actually quite excited about the final.

Chile v Germany in the group was a good game and hopefully it'll be the same in the final.

Germany making all of the mistakes, Chile fail to take their chances, Chile make one cock up, Germany score. Typical football

VAR is proving one thing, it's not that technology was necessarily needed, it's proving that the refs are as incompetent as a lot of people expected. The Chile player elbows the German player right in the face, the ref goes to VAR.........he gives a yellow card. How can any ref think that is only a yellow card and not a red ?

And basically Germany B wins the whole thing.

So what do we think of VAR? It didn't go so well if its still 100% referee call. Sometimes he doesn't bother looking at VAR, other times he looks at VAR for the most blatant elbow you'll see and only gives a yellow.

Whats the point.
