Do you think Liverpool will hand us the title?

No chance of that, they hate the scummers with a passion but let's not forget this is the 1st time in years we havent played them at least 3 or 4 times over the season - a pretty fierce rivalry has developed between the clubs, plus we done them at the Bridge. Tubby waiter will be defo up for it and as already stated only their status in the Eurpoa cup and the race for 4th may possibly influence his team selection, their 2nd leg semi is on April 29th and then Chels at Anfield on May 2nd. If they have no chance of 4th and make the EL final, maybe fatso will take his foot of the gas in the prem. Only definite factor in Chelsea's favour is no Torres who has shown up with goals against us since he arrived from Madrid.

No, though i have no doubts that they will petition for that to happen. then hold a minutes silence if they dont.

So that's all they have to play for - they've got no chance of coming 4th to get into the CL

If the mankers win the prem then they have more wins than the fool - maybe, just maybe!

Portsmouth will not be permitted to play in the Europa League next season, the Football Association and Premier League have told the club.

Portsmouth would have qualified to play in Europe next season after reaching the FA Cup final against Chelsea - who will be in the Champions League - but the club's administrators have been told that any late application for a UEFA club licence will not be considered due to the financial problems.

A joint statement from the FA and Premier League said: "The FA and Premier League have confirmed to the administrators of Portsmouth Football Club that they shall not consider any late application for granting of a UEFA Club Licence for the 2010-11 season."

The decision means that the team who finish seventh in the Premier League - currently Liverpool - would play in the Europa League instead.

UEFA had said Portsmouth could submit a late application before May 31 but the Premier League and the FA believe Portsmouth's financial situation - debts total £119million - is so bad that they would not meet any of the criteria.

The administrators do not expect the club to go in to a company voluntary agreement (CVA) until June 6, while the fact that so much money is owed to clubs, other football creditors and Her Majesty's Customs and Revenues.

There was also a strong feeling at the FA and the Premier League that one of the reasons the UEFA club licence was set up was to try to prevent clubs being run as badly as Portsmouth have been.

Portsmouth's administrator Andrew Andronikou had been confident that he could make a case for the club to be given the licence and said the ruling was unfair on Pompey fans.

Andronikou told Press Association Sport: "We have spent a long time going through all the necessary steps and we had hoped to make an application next week.

"We felt that we would do our bit and that it would be up to the FA and the Premier League to do theirs.

"It's wrong for the fans that they should not be allowed to support their club in Europe next season."

 
Think that works in our favor, at least they wont be busting a gut to confirm a European place.

 
We have to win againsit Liverpool. There isn't another option. It won't be easy match.

Liverpool went into the last day of the season against Blackburn and could've laid down but they fought and won a draw, even though it meant the Mancs could've won the the title. I think that day it ended up not mattering, as the Mancs didn't take care of business themselves, but anyone expecting them to lay down and take it is in for a surprise. Then again, Benitez is crazy and just might play Jay Spearing at CB to spite his old buddy Fergie.

The bottom line is we need to beat Stoke, and then hope Spurs can also rock the boat for Man Utd. Since our team is apparently so drastically affected by other results, opening up the gap again might need the boost we need going to Anfield.

I pray pray pray Essien will be ready for that game too. I have a vision of him coming off the bench and scoring an absolute screamer in injury time from 30 yards

I didnt see this title race myself, but I know its a classic case of one team not laying down and giving up, eventhough it could have helped their mortal rival to a league title. That day, Liverpool helped them out by beating BRFC, but the Mancs couldnt beat West Ham to clinch it.
