Erling Haaland

Ahh if we only had the patience to wait one more year. Best to wait for the right signing vs go straight for the wrong one.

Lots of lessons to be learned from our board.
We would not have paid him that much and he did not want to come here. Does not excuse signing Rom by any means.

Sounds eerily similar to when we missed out on Aguero and City got him the next season. In hindsight we should have gone with a Danny Ings type striker until the end of this season and then bought Haaland this summer. However, I guess that wouldn't have even mattered with us being in limbo due to ownership being changed.

Shame, as he's exactly what we need. I guess we'll be scratching around for nothing in the summer again.

The new ownership may not be able to afford that kind of money that City can. The wages are ridiculous, but I'm sure we could sort that out. I do think the wages these days are utterly mental and something needs to be done about capping wages, and especially what agents make from these transfers.

I'm sure the club is preparing things. It's just hard to do concrete business when you literally have no idea who will be providing the funds and how much they will provide. It would've been interesting to see what would've happened with our transfers if the events that unfolded in the Ukraine didn't unfold the way they did.

Honestly, us losing out on Haaland isn't surprising. I wasn't counting on us getting him.

He isn’t though, we should have learnt something from the Lukaku debacle. I’d rather keep faith with a more rounded Havertz, with Broja providing competition. Oh & he is injury prone.

I don't think we challenge with the same players at all. Broja is decent, but young. Playing for Chelsea is different than playing for Southampton.

For the money that is needed for him with all possible fees and wage demands, we could probably sign both Tielemans and Rice in a package. Just saying.

Reece played at Wigan and came straight into our team, Mount at Derby.

Not as hard for players to make the step up as people think, lets not forget he'll be playing alongside better players than he currently is at Southampton.

I really don't know how he'll progress, but winning the title with Broja at the helm is super unlikely. May as well have kept Tammy. Hindsight is always a wonderful thing with this club though, we've got enough hindsight to go on unfortunately.

Tbf, i think winning the league with this current crop is super unlikely anyway. I'd rather have a year giving Broja a go as an unknown with Kai to fall back on than waste another £50m+ on a striker that will fail.

Lukaku and Haaland is no contest. We had no chance of buying Haaland and we made a mistake of buying Rom. That is pretty apparent.

The difference between the two is:

Haaland is much younger

Haaland is much better

Haaland seems to have a personality and grit.

Given our sh*te luck with strikers, would rather prefer a no pressure option like Broja rather than another expensive dud. Many players have graduated from the academy to the first team over the past 2 seasons. If TT thinks Broja is good enough & he performs well in pre-season then he definitely should get the chances next season.

I mean the problem is how much time do we have to keep giving these players. We kind of need a proven scorer because Utd and Newcastle are on the up, and in a couple seasons they will be challenging most likely.

If we don't win the league soon, we'll be on a long drought of domestic league wins. It's a concern because the domestic league is probably the most important trophy we can get our hands on.

The inflation in football is out of control.

With Newcastle now a part of the equation, I don't see it slowing down.
We had a first million pound player, now we’ll have first weekly million pound player!
