FA in talks with Roy Hodgson over England role

Redknapp is nowhere near good enough to manage an international team, I've been amazed at the amount of support he's had from the media and assorted football fans.

What a colossal snub for him, laughed my tits off!

He's not a bad mamager, he's done well with a variety of different clubs at different levels. Whereas Redknapp's biggest achievemtne was winning 1 FA cup and financially ruining about 2 clubs (make it 3 soon please!)

I actually dont think this is such a bad thing, theres a good chance this is the right man in the right place in a similar way Robbie is currently for us. Hodgson has plenty of international experience, plenty or European experience, and will piss the scousers off. Frankly I would prefer him to that tactically inept spud any day of the week.

Good luck to him.

The bar is set pretty low for England managers after Capello, McClaren and Sven, so really he can't do that much worse.

If he gets them organised, shafts Glen Johnson, and cans this silly idea that Rooney can't play up front alone then England can make a decent run into the semi finals I reckon.

I can actually see the logic behind this too. Maybe a shrewd, lower profile manager is what we need. For all the hype Harry gets I don't think he's a much better manager than Hodgson, and the FA won't have to pay millions in compensation as his contract expires soon anyway. Hodgson also has a lot of experience of international management, a different animal to club management, and Harry doesn't. As an added bonus, it's completely derailed Spurs' season!

Loads of bell ends comparing Redknapp to Clough.

2 European Cups plus numerous other trophies compared to 1 FA Cup, whilst bankrupting that club in the process.

Capello had a poor World Cup, granted. But otherwise he's been very good for England.

Capello's england record is awesome, the same thing happens every time! people actually think we are better than we are and expect way too much. Redcrap was never going to get the job as he comes with too much baggage and soooo much sh*t would be dragged out by the press, i'm quite happy for him to ruin the club he's at :-)

Sounds like a done deal. I like it. (Famous last words!)

So who takes his job at West Brom? I wonder if it's time for Roberto Martinez to take a step up the Premiership ladder, albeit not a big one?

The media today are an absolute disgrace, they havent got what they wanted so are now attacking Hodgson already. Utter scum.

Predicted that the second I heard it. The Murdoch empire is best buds with Harry so now we've got 2-6 years of this constant sniping to put up with (our media is why I struggle to fully support England).

What has Harry done? Left a series of clubs in ruin, proved that he can't handle sustained pressure at the top level (the media needs to accept that it was only Liverpool and City being poor that got him into the Champions League). But hey, he won the FA Cup. Once.

Roy has a track record of getting underperforming sides to do well internationally. He hasn't got the trophies but he got the Swiss up to third in the FIFA rankings and sterered teams to European finals. He's a better candidate

So now the "uncle Harry to Chelsea" speculation can start up again. :stirthepot:

That's a shame, I was hoping they would take Arry
Much rather 'arry stays were he is at Spuds, long may he reign. Same with KK and Wenger, my biggest worry would be any of

the 3 clubs getting someone good in.

Think Hodgson will do alright. No one (except the delusional press) expect too much.

Hodgson's just announced his first England XI..Wobinson, Bwidge, Tewwy, Wio, Wichards, Bawwy, Cawwick, Gewward, Wooney, Stuwwidge, Cwouch...

:getmycoat:

Got to give Woy a chance. Everyone in the press shooting him down even before he was confirmed. I for one am glad it has gone to him and I really hope he is a success so that it can be stuck it up to the press (who do also all seem to hate Chelsea).

I think Hodgson has the best credentials for the England job from all the managers who are available. Everyone raving about 'arry well what has he done? On trophy in 30 years, no international experience which puts him behind Hodgson.

Would like to know who people would have wanted and who from that list is actually available.

Anyway, all the best Woy! I for one will be getting behind you and the England team and always will.
