FIFA Remembrance Fiasco

I'm going to the Dulwich Hamlet wreath laying ceremony tonight in memory of players connected with the club who gave their lives in both wars.  The photo is of the memorial in the board room taken last year.

After that it's England v Scotland in the bar.

I wonder why such a long standing tradition has now been outlawed? Hmmmm

FIFA have now charged Wales in part because their fans wore poppies in the stands.

Presumably the wearing of either of these two symbols would result in an identical FIFA sanction.

What the f**k is wrong with FIFA ? To put a ban on poppies being worn by the players is ridiculous on it's own, but to try and ban fans from wearing them is even more outrageous.

Politically correct nonsense!

Common sense has gone out the window.

I saw an article on this subject online saying FIFA are right to ban the poppies and drew comparisons to something in Iran where a game was played around the time of Ashura and the Iranian FA asked fans to wear black and sing religious chants associated with the festival during the game . For me (I'm irish, I don't have any significant affiliation to the poppy but i absolutely respect what it stands for) it's preposterous to compare the two, since what happened in Iran is very different to wearing a small commemorative badge as a mark of respect and commemoration rather than the observance of a religious event. FIFA done f**ked up with this one
