Future Films

Kurzel's Macbeth with Fassbender. Don't know what to expect - apparently Fassbender has great difficulty with capturing the required nuance, timing and cadence of Macbeth's lines & I've always been a big fan of Polanski's version....however, Aussie director, so it's a must see.

 
Hope to see it soon. I particulary like the film in the Round House with Anthony Shearer.

 


Looking forward to Jared Leto's portrayal of the Joker but I don't think anyone will beat Heath Ledger! I'm also looking forward to seeing Margot Robbie's portrayal of Harley Quinn.

I'm just hoping the moving lives up to expectations and isn't a disappointment.

They also have a guaranteed fan base who will lap up anything that carries the Marvel or DC stamps.

Think 'lap up anything' is a bit harsh/blinkered, I'm a fan of superhero movies, couldn't give a sh*t who's name is on it.

And why not, if done properly you've got over 75 years worth of back catalogue to draw inspiration from. 

Instead of just doing stand alone films and looking to create a cinematic universe you're able to build the lore and create bigger and better story arcs. 

 
My main gripe with Marvel movies, especially whedons Avengers is that the humour is very forced. I can see it being funny for alot of people and when I was younger I remember laughing through Ironman. The problem is that every lead since Tony stark I feel like they are all given snappy one liners. At the time they were good enjoyable movies, but I think they need to step it up a bit now as the humour in my opinion is wearing thin. We have been built up to this epic battle with Thanos, I don't really want to see Tony Stark giving us one liners when the world is on the line. That's just my opinion. 

I loved Daredevil and the villain in that show was the strongest Marvel villain yet as you believed in him, apart from Loki I have yet to see a decent Marvel villain anywhere near Kingpin.

Guardians was the stand out film in my opinion, it has it's own identity whereas the others don't. Most Marvel movies now are very forgettable. I think it's going to be a shame when they become apart of the Avengers because they could go on their own way for a good couple of movies without any need.

 
Good post Sheva, I agree with the majority of that. I think part of the Captain America character is snappy one-liners, typical American hero of the 1940’s era. However when you see the likes of Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye etc do it, it does seem forced and hardly keeps a good dialogue going. But they're good escapism films, made for the battles and not Oscars, the first Superman film with whatshisface... Henry someone(?)... was pretty much just one huge fight, I'm looking forward to seeing what Batman v Superman can do.

Guardians was immense, is it going to merge with the Avengers? I know a sequel is coming but I didn’t know it would see them eventually join them, especially as RDJ and Chris Evans won’t carry on with their respective hero after the final Avengers film.

I thought that was always the intention with guardians as the avengers and them have similar goals. The sequel will be starting production mid next year I believe. So I guess we will know more about what direction they are heading. I didn't mind the first half of Man of Steel, I thought the casting apart from maybe superman was great. The problem with that movie for me was that they struggled find a balance between superman of old and trying to put a moody darkness on the franchise. Superman will always be Superman, he needs to be standing up for the helpless etc etc. It doesn't help by destroying the whole city and perhaps killing civilians in the meantime. Though I think that set up the whole Batman vs Superman story by the looks of it.

I think we will see one of RDJ, Chris Evans characters killed off in Civil war. I don't know who but I honestly think that could breathe life into the Avengers franchise. It needs an oh sh*t moment if you know what I mean. 

There was a moment in the Marvel franchise which lost if for me and I thought to myself you are really trying to hard. I think it was Thor 2 which was set in London, it maybe petty of me thinking this. I believe Thor was fighting that elf looking villian and he got knocked away by some distance but instead of flying back like an almighty god of thunder should. He caught the tube instead. I kinda lost faith at that point.

That's why I said they're easier to market the movie. I don't think the fan base will lap up anything and everything, but enough of them do.

 
Haha I couldn't remeber the film's title, Man of Steel! You knew what I meant ;-)

Sheva - I thought Thor 2 was complete rubbish, nothing like the other stand alones, I'm looking forward to the 3rd one though, can't be as bad... surely? And if they're going to kill one of them off it will be Captain America (because Iron Man is clearly the main focus, why else make the thirs Captain America film half about another character who has already had his 3!) which will piss me off, I love Chris Evans!
