Grant throws his toys out of the pram!

So what does this mean? Because Grant has admitted guilt for his appalling ineptness as a football manager are we all expected to fall to our knees and beg forgiveness for daring to criticise him?

I respect the man for his honesty, but it doesn't change a thing - he's still totally incompetent at this level of management.

Respecting you're opinion as I do Steve I still feel compelled to counter it with,

I recon a lot of Managers would like the same kind of ineptness that would bring them 3 losses in thirty five games with the injuries, suspensions and ACN distractions Grant has had to deal with.

A lot of managers would like a squad like the one Grant inherited at Chelsea, too.

I've just been on the phone to my 98-year old grandmother, and I reckon she'd have done just as good a job under the circumstances - probably better, I'm sure the players would at least respect her

I think it's good that someone has lashed out at the country's media shambles for once.

Thats not a fair comparison,

You Know her football abilities know no bounds, she used to run rings round us down Pultis Park and you always cried when she never let our side have rush goalie
icon_lol.gif

seriously though, if the squads that easy to run, how come the great Jose never won more than two trophies in a season and with the squad Grant inherited but not with the same injury crises, suspensions and ACN why did we only get second in the prem?

That's true, and she always nicked the jumper I'd put down as one of the goalposts, saying she didn't knit it just for me to lay it down in a pile of dog-sh*t

Once again I must stress that I was never Mourinho's biggest fan, and indeed wasn't surprised or disappointed in the least when he left - just with his successor.

chippy, you're well named...you have a real chip on your shoulder as far as jose is concerned...iin your defence of Grant, you seem to constantly want to have a dig at jose and his achievements, which I find bizarre to say the least...

yes he made mistakes, but they were very few...he lost two champions league semi-finals true, but I don't hold it against him...we didn't play great in those ties, but neither did liverscum, they just got the breaks...But he got a hell of a lot right while he was in charge (five trophies) and the x factor and togetherness has disappeared since he went...I now no longer feel we have the edge when we go into the big games, the belief has gone and i'm not just talking about me as a fan, the players aren't the same...remember how many late goals we scored last season? remember us fighting with 10 men at the arse to try and stay in the title race, I have not seen that performance under Grant...you point to Grant's record, well the majority of those results came in games we were expected to win...in the big games against Arse, man u, liverscum and Spurs, we haven't even scored, let alone won. Unthinkable under jose.

Defend grant for sure, but try showing a little more respect for the special one

You don't need to stress that to me mate, I remember feeling exactly the same way but that does'nt make my question any less valid,

neither of us thought quite as much of Jose as most on here but both of us must respect he was a very good manager,

on that basis alone what Grant has done with a depleated Mourinho squad, if he is indeed as inept as you say is enough to make me wonder why Jose could not have at least had a treble,

Obviously I am using this as a measuring stick of what Grant has managed to do so far, which is ok apart from the CC final,

He's only lost about as many games since that fateful September day as Wenger of Ferguson,

I recon we should settle this once and for all by taking all the evidence round to your Nans house and after a quick game of three goals and in (Bags first in goal and thick gloves, she dont half hit it!) let your nan decide if Grants worth a bit more time or if she takes over before the CL game

I have said many times Jose was a great manager, that is not to say I liked everything about him, everything he did or the way we played(more last season and the start of thia) undr him,

I have not got a Chip on my shourlder as there are far more importent things happening in my life these days than Football (it never used to be that way)

yes he made mistakes, but they were very few...he lost two champions league semi-finals true, but I don't hold it against him...we didn't play great in those ties, but neither did liverscum, they just got the breaks...

Thats good then Liverpool did'nt play great but we still lost, I know the results under Jose good and bad but comparing the good ones he had over three years to the bad ones Grant has had over five months is not fair, as comparing the good Substitutions he made over three years (many of them) to the good Subs Grant has made over five months (not many but with not much on the bench)

But he got a hell of a lot right while he was in charge (five trophies) and the x factor and togetherness has disappeared since he went...I now no longer feel we have the edge when we go into the big games, the belief has gone and i'm not just talking about me as a fan, the players aren't the same...remember how many late goals we scored last season? remember us fighting with 10 men at the arse to try and stay in the title race, I have not seen that performance under Grant...you point to Grant's record, well the majority of those results came in games we were expected to win...in the big games against Arse, man u, liverscum and Spurs, we haven't even scored, let alone won.

I am not detracting from the spirit we had although I think it's still here we were undoubtably very focused, the thing is spirit alone is not always enough and Grant now with thefull team available at last has got to find the right mix and needs time to do it,

Unthinkable under jose.

I doubt with the circumstances we played Arsenal and Man UTD the results would have been any different,

Defend grant for sure, but try showing a little more respect for the special one
I will defend Grant unless I feel what he has done warrents less than that, also I will show any respect I have for Mourinho in the way I choose and dont need you pointing me in that direction, let me tell you, If I did'nt respect the man I would come out and say so as loud as a lot on here make it clear they don't respect Grant.

We all deride Grant for the way in which he got the job, but I am absolutely positive that if Chelsea had hired say Capello as the new manager and he'd made exactly the same decisions as Grants and gotten exactly the same results, we'd all be here saying about what a fantastic job he's done.

Especially after last weeks cup final defeat

I don't think.

I think claiming that as 'toys out of the pram' interview is a tad far fetched. All he has said is that the media lie to flog papers and that agents are scumbags. Nothing excessive (or untrue) or hugely controversial, or out of control, there.
I didn't say he was wrong in what he said.

But it is out of character for him and if you listen to him he is clearly losing his cool.
What the F*** man? So that means Jose was out of character and was losing his cool after every press interview? Idiotic.
Thanks for your considered views.

If Mourinho lost his cool at every press interview then that wouldn't make it out of character would it - smart arse!

If Capello or some other big name manager was at the club the fans would brush it off, say it was disappointing but that his overall record at Chelsea is good and that the future looks bright.

There is no doubt at all that Grant is being judged more on his suspicious appointment and his bumbling persona than he is on the actual results his delivering on the park.

Does anyone here remember when Mourinho was appointed manager at Chelsea?. The board consesus view back then was that Mourinho needed at least a full season in the job before we expected him to win the premiership and that it would take time for him to implement his vision for Chelsea Football Club. Now it was fantastic that he seemed to land on his feet very quickly and won the premiership in his first season at the club, but even if he'd not won till his second season, fans would have considered him a success. Mourinho was afforded that patience and so would most other big name managers who are to join the club in the future, but because everyone expected Grant to fail (myself included), he simply isn't being afforded that patience at this point.

I thought Jose came in and said he'd win the league at Bolton in his 1st season, and he did!
