Great away days of the past

I have met the Doc, lovely bloke and Chelsea is his first love. You forgot about Tony Hateley and the other sending home incident at Barcelona !
Yeah, Tony Hateley wasn't exactly Doc's best ever signing, was he :D

I still am not sure about Graham for Baldwin, and why get rid of Venables (who was never the same player when he left )

From what I've heard, Venables and George Graham were shipped out because they were causing unrest in the dressing room.

Yup, Venables in particular supposedly tried to take over Doc's tactical talks and team talks - you can just picture him doing it too, I'm surprised Doc didn't chin him. Or maybe he did, we just didn't get to hear about it? ;)

i read that the manager said ... i could not see us winning anything with him. Venables has also said that he could have stayed at Chelsea for the whole of his career. I think if we had him and Ossie in the final in 67 we would have won it.

Agreed that Sexton was a poor at man management.

As for Osgood and Hudson I heard he got tired of them turning up to training pissed.

Not great but significant... I remember (one of my few memories) going to Blackbuurn (which I seem to go to a lot for some bizarre reason) and watching Zola come on for his first game.

you could include Cooke and The sponge in with those two.
Ossie himself claims people had the wrong idea and that he was never really a part of the whole Kings Road thing. He describes himself as a country boy from Windsor, unlike Cookie, Hudson in particular who lived around the corner from the Bridge and fully deserved their hard-drinking reputation.

I had a look round the other day for a picture of Raquel Welch wearing her "I scored with Osgood t-shirt" but couldn't find one anywhere!

The kit yes, but not the t-shirt. Here are a couple:

My first proper away game (outside of London) was Huddersfield in the FA cup 1967, the year we beat Yorkshire to get to the final. The football special we travelled up on was the highlight of the weekend and I learned more songs on that train than have at any time before or since. We won 1-2 and then went on to beat Sheffields x 2 and Leeds in the semi at Villa Park (as mentioned above by ReggieBoy) only to lose in the final. That day at Wembley is the only time I have ever cried at a football match when Spuds won the first all London final, in my defence I was only 13 and it wasn't a full on blart more of a few tears and a runny nose, but the disappointment made me want to kill somebody. Probably in hindsight the traitor Jimmy Greaves.

around mid 70s , is one that sticks in my mind. derby away . we took most of the popside . for most of the match blues fans , blues fans on blues fans shoulders and 3 high also sang a continuous CHELSEA CHELSEEEA CHELLLLSSSEEEAA . great day

no white stripe down the side of Raquel's shorts, what a plastic.
