Is player power king at Chelsea?

I do agree about the width of the post comment regarding Avram Grant, since why was he fired when we were that close to winning the Champions League? I still cannot figure that one out.

This post is proof in the pudding that the majority of Chelsea fans are at last singing from the same song sheet. The 'old' champions in our squad, Cech, Terry, Lampard, Joe Cole, Drogba in my opinion have to stay.

The likes of Ashley Cole, Essien, Ivanovic and Alex are at the performance level and age to compliment the above.

Then the Manager should be given time to produce his own side and squad to meet the ever increasing challenges that face us at home with Arsenal and Man City, even Spurs, who are much stronger than in our Championship years under Jose. Not to mention abroad with spending power more than those days too if Real Madrid last season is anything to go by and the fact the Special one is likely to end up at Anfield is worth a mention.

We have to blood our youngsters, like Kakuta, Bruma and maybe Stoich on return from Twente and develop our all conquering youth team and integrate them into reserve team action, maybe like Wenger using the Carling Cup in future years to give them experience and the buzz and confidence to know they can play in front of a big crowd at Stamford Bridge.

Then comes the crucial part, investment in two or three world class players at the age of when Lamps, Terry, Joe Cole etc were when we looked like dominating football for the next decade.

What actually went wrong should not be up for discussion anymore, only what Roman, the Manager and board intend to do in the summer to give us a base to put things RIGHT !
excellent post and exactly what i hope we do next season.

When you've had so many managers come and go the squad is bound to pull together, they've had to toughen their mentality - they've been the one constant since 2004.
