Israel vs England

and lamps, with a great dive sure to be forgotten while we mock gerrard and lambast drogba or robben.
It was a shocker and, to make matters worse, he didn't have the decency to look sheepish afterwards (which would, as we know, have made it excusable)

Just a quick tricky question. Would you let Mourinho leave Chelsea if he said he would take over England?0-0 against Israel. Will we even see England in Euro 2008?
I think it should be:

When Mourinho leaves Chelsea in June should he take over England?

Can I offer some comfort by telling you that the Holland-Romania match wasn't much better? The closest we came to scoring a goal was when a defender and the keeper got their signals crossed and the defender kicked the ball behind the goalline 5 meters from the goal. Our dear old friend Mutu's team didn't do much better, so a dismal 0-0.

And there are people even discussing club before country? Duhhh!!

With the situation now, and with the style and game England plays now - England can miss Euro 2008! Easy!

Euro 2008 just wouldn't be the same without England.

Hope you pull yourselves together and win a few now.

Next game is against Andorra right? Please tell me you will beat them.

the dire headline on the BBC website was 'England hold Israel to a Draw'

says it all. Pathetic.

for first time in a long time, I decided not to bother with england game and went out instead...came back and watched the so-called highlights and the game went exactly as I expected...we're sh*te and mcclaren is out of his depth...still had to laugh as 606 predictably went on drop lamps put gerrard in the middle arguement even though gerrard was sh*te again...alan green on 606 had a major rant against lamps and then one wolves fan rang up and said why do you always pick on lamps, oh that's right you're a liverpool fan, but gerrard has been sh*te for ages, why not drop gerrard? Greeny denied it but cut him off for the next caller...typical

Whilst even the most diehard of Chelsea fans will struggle to deny that Lamps has been sh*te for England for the best part of a year now i find it galling that he gets all the stick for the midfield problems whilst media darling Ickle Stevie is untouched.

Obviously i am aware that a part of this stems from this countrys insaitable urge to have a scapegoat but as poor as Lampard has been i find it hard to fathom what excatly Ickle Stevie brings to England. From what i can see he losses possesion most of the time hits 70 yards pases to no-one and plays out of the position he is asked thus putting the team in danger. Yes, he is being played out wide, but doesnt he do this for the Mousers too ? He seems to manage to do as is asked there so why not England , and why is this not picked up on ?

As a whole England games are a chore now for me. And they seem to be for a lot of the players too. Some of them seem to play with the weight of the world on their shoulders. I do not deny that they are proud to wear the white shirt but the expectation placed on them is starting to become a huge burden. I hate to say it but i would imagine some of those lads dread England get togethers.

So we find ourselves in the very real propspect of not qualifying for Euro 08. Whilst the thought of a major Championship with England is horrible i can think of 3 positive things that might stem from our absence.

1 - Mclaren goes. Say what you will about Sven but at least we used to win our qualifiers.

2 - At the tournament itself we dont have to put up with silly hype, Union Jacks on cars , followed by sh*te football, struggling to get out of our group then getting knocked out by the first good team we meet (on pens)

3 - The FA might actually realise we have a very real problem in this country and do something about the way our kids are taught to play football, starting at the very bottom.

Roll on Saturday and the domestic fixtures please...

I have even heard a lot of people say that Gerrard was the only stand out player for England on Saturday which is utter rubbish (for me Johnson was the only player who you would even consider saying played well). JT did little wrong but then again had little to do. Didn't stop Rio and Carrager totally forgetting which team they played for when it came to passing the ball though.

Lampard had a shocker again but no moreso than Gerrard who once again showed his tendency to chase the ball no matter where it is on the park and no matter where he has been asked to play. He showed no discipline whatsoever and therefore failed miserably to do the job asked of him. On top of that when he did get the ball his use of it was no more imaginative then punp it up towards Rooney and Johnson. (although I have to admit that I don't entirely blame him for that - that is symptomatic of the game England are now playing).

They were both awful and will both carry on to be awful as long as we keep playing this style of football with this structure.

May I offer a simple solution to the England fiasco which would revolutionise the way we look at the national game? Bear with me 'cos I'm serious here....

Instead of having a national side, the FA rotates the national duties amongst club sides that have a predominance of English players. That would effectively ensure that we put out teams in which players recognised each other and were already in tune and comfotable with styles of play etc.

In this way, we could have asked, say, Reading to offer up 14 English players and don the white shirt vs Israel. Wigan can have the honour vs Andorra etc, etc....(NB Arsenal never get to play!)

Similarly, England tickets could then be offered first to the elected club's fans.

The manager of the team would be the club manager.

Clubs would be paid enormous fees by the FA to play as England which would come out of the sickening amount of sponsorship deals normally reserved for the overpaid twats who currently disgrace our nation. A whopping win fee would also be paid to the club

Hence....

  • Club vs Country disappears as an argument (if you as a club don't want to be England, you don't have to be)
Teams play coherently and with direction (cos they're used to it)

Pride and passion would be restored to the side as clubs fought to put on the best England performance vs each other

The opposition would be mighty confused!

And...it would also encurage EPL clubs to invest more in English youth and develop predominently English sides....

Ta-da!

And...it would also encurage EPL clubs to invest more in English youth and develop predominently English sides....
OK aside from the fact it would never happen - lets for an instant pretend it could - do you really think it would encourage teams to invest in English youth more? It certainly wouldn't encourage the top sides to as their priority is firmly club before country and an over emphasis on English players would mean they would never probably stand a chance of winning the Champions League.

As for the smaller clubs I am not so convinced either as they would see a great risk in over investing in youth development and English players when we all know you can pick up players from the continent, and non Eu countries, far cheaper than home grown players.

The biggest problem in the English game for me is the ridiculous internal transfer market.

Is England playing a draw away against Israel a fiasco, or is the fiasco the whole start to the qualifying campaign? If it is just this one match, I think you're under-estimating Israel as a team, and maybe the English team did too, even though people claimed they wouldn't. You want a shock and an embarrassing result? Try Serbia against Kazakhstan. Ok, Serbia were playing away, but they are a team fighting for the top spot in the group so they are one of the better European sides, but they lost to a team that had not won a competetive match since they joined UEFA.

as bad as lamps seemed to play on saturday, he once again was our biggest goal threat...just like in the world cup...he's going through a run for england at the moment where it's not going in for him, but as chelsea fans we know he will go on a run sooner or later...if he'd scored in a few of those games lately his place wouldn't be an issue...gerrard on the other hand has been sh*te for england for ages and deserves to be under much more scrutiny than our frank

I dont think things are all that bad for England. Sure we could'nt stick 5 past the Isreali's, but who does? They are a superb footballing nation, and you had more chance of me being spanked in front of a kibbutz whilst being called Jacob, than witnessing a thrashing of the Isrealites.

Our future looks rosey, as does our squad.

Owen Hargreaves remains the Talisman of our team. Without him, England

are physically incapable of putting in a decent performance.

He has perfected the art of the 'Makelele' role, and alot of his work, of course, goes 'unnoticed'.

Stewart 'The Super Sub' Downing meanwhile, continues to bamboozle opponents, leaving them in his wake. Never have i seen such a superb push and run merchant, since, well, since...

Anywho, that Cristiano fella should take note, because watching Stewy and Gareth Barry warm up is a sight that will surely strike fear in to the hearts of any two-bob middle eastern outfit.

The only negative comments that i have, is that our brave battling warriors are continually let down by their so called 'megastar' team mates in the form of Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard (MBE). They cannot all play together, and nor should they. It's a disgrace.

Instead ladies and gentlemen, i propose that we turn our backs on them altogether, as they are clearly not cutting the mustard when it matters.

Replace them is what i say!

Out with Gerrard. In with Steve Sidwell.

Out with Lampard. In with Jermaine Jenas.

Out with Rooney. In with Steve Kabba.

Make these changes, and watch our England team flourish.

It has got to be the way forward people.

This level headed, intelligent human being from the BBC seems to at least endorse some of my statements: Lampard is the DEVIL HIMSELF! GO TO HELL AND BURN, BURN, BURN!

Years ago, probably before most of you were born, Joe Mercer played virtually the then Liverpool side and that didn't work.

With the situation now, and with the style and game England plays now - England can miss Euro 2008! Easy!
Soon (in Autumn) England will play Russia(My national team) twice and I think you would be able to decide all of your qualifying problems, I believe you would get more than 3 points from those 2 games and I want to believe you would beat Croatia at home. When did we met last time?? I can`t remember. And according to your perfomance it`s difficult for me to understand which game would be easier for Russia - home or away??

I can say Russia is away team. We have some great attackers, but we can`t possess the ball in the middle and we have no such defenders ,as JTerry. We are good sitting on the own half and making breaks when opponents are trying to attack. But it`s not about England and you have much more quality.

Our home record is far from being great. Awful 0-0 draw with Croatia, 1-1 shamy draw with Israel(it`s about the lack of JT).

It seems you like the draws too

So.............

And it would be in Autumn, English season would be just beginning and Russian one would be moving at the peak. I hope we would show you what "football" means
