And the defending at chelsea for the last couple seasons hasn't been as good as it needs to be. Luiz came and we thought he was going to be amazing but he does get caught out too often, same with Cole but that's expected from an attacking position. Ivanovic has been good so no complaints there, but the Chelsea defense could definitely be better.

I think you've just proved you don't know what you're talking about. You'd rather listen to the Sun and other bullsh*t meadia outlets than using your own eyes and making up your own mind.

I panic when I don't see his name in the papers, means he's probably fallen off the end of the earth.

JT gives us much more than just his defending on the pitch, he brings solidity, organisation, control. Off the pitch he is the leader and is central to having a team ethic and great atmosphere at the club. He leaves then we lose much more than a player.

No bias involved. He was the most consistent player for England. Our defence was our only asset he was at the heart of it. You need players that play 90 every match not 30 seconds then go missing. this Gerrard hype winds me up, Pirlo showed him how to play.

I expect Ferdinand to have his reputation in tatters or for the case to get thrown with the main witness walking..

 
JT a definite NO...as for Lamps C U L8R, let hime earn his last pay cheque as he will only be a bench player this year...we need to move forward..

Seems very harsh... He was out for a long period with injuries last season, then had to come back to fitness, plus he was often benched by AVB...and yet he was still our top scorer with 16 goals..only 4 off of making 20 yet again.

He can still do a job next season and pop up with 10-15 goals no doubt.

Don't entirely disagree but it's time to move forward....if he is prepared to sit on the bench fine el al Giggs / Schoales ...or let him earn a huge packet in the US as a final farewell to his great career and I am sure we have someone already lined up as a replacement

Its a tough call, i would love to see them both hang up their boots with us but now days its less likely that a player retires at a top club because they will naturally go down hill and the club needs to keep the standards high.

Im sure both have another 2 seasons in them but both will have to start realising that starting every game wont happen.

 
Amazing that people want to see the back of someone who is arguably the greatest midfielder Chelsea have ever had, someone who has broken all kinds of records scoring from midfield, someone who was instrumental in winning Premier League titles, and most relevant of all, someone who greatly helped us do what no club from London had ever done before in winning the CL.

Lampard to stay and go into coaching (he's a very, very intelligent and hard working footballer, so would suit the role well IMO) is my preferred scenario by a mile.

 
How do you know he wants that? Although he might have chanced his mind since then im sure i read that when he retires he wants to go into the property market.

Its all well and good saying he has to stay and then join our coaching staff but if he doesnt play that much next season or as much as he would like then i would think he will be off next summer

 
lamps has said he wants to take his coaching badges etc...may want a break though before going into management...I still think he has got a few years left at the highest level, but he would have to be prepared to do a scholes/giggs and play less...also after his contract runs out next year, he would have to take a pay cut as well, which i'm not sure he'd be prepared to do if teams like LA Galaxy offer him a fortune

 
Lets see how Lamps performs this season before we decide, I can see Robbie playing him much deeper than we're used to! He will also have to get used to either being on the bench or not completing 90 minutes.

If at the end of the season he feels he has run his course at the top level, then we can let him go and earn some dough in the MLS!

Terry wont leave us now, 1 club man and all that!

 
But what happens if JT isnt getting a game anymore? Do you think he will stay just to be a 1 club man?

 
They are both great players, however they can't play at this level for much longer and where is our succession planning? Playing Lampard deeper might work on a P/T basis but its in his blood to get forward. TBH despite his tremendous record I he has never won me over as a fan, to many sideways / backwards passing yet he has the ability to supply that killer pass as he has done numerous times but for some reason would rather slide the ball sideways more often than not. We need a replacement for him this season and perhaps now is the time for young Josh to step up and be a perm member of the first team squad.

 
the biggest threat to jt's future is the court case...if he comes through that with the all-clear there is no way he will go anywhere...if it goes the other way, we may have something to worry about...who knows what the club will do then?

 
Maybe controversial but if it was me , i would accept a half decent bid for JT. Lets face it he isn't getting any younger and it remove some bad publicity around the Club. The one downside would be his leadership qualities.

Don't know what a player must achieve to win u over as a fan. There's been some very fickle comments about two of the greatest, if not the two greatest players to pull on the blue shirt.
