So Mancienne gets a man of the match playing in the midfield?
Nice to see! I reckon Mancienne will fare much better as a defensive midfielder than as a central defender, let's hope so.

By the way, did anyone see the FA Cup match highlights on Saturday night? Scott Sinclair scored a great goal for Wigan against Hull.

Things might be looking up for Scott now. My Man U supporting friend was at the Man U V Wigan game and reckons Sinclair caused havoc when he came on.

I caught a little of the Tranmere v Wolves game on the radio yesterday. Phrases that stood out include "Mancienne is such a skillful player"... "another excellent pass from Mancienne" ... with the caveat that many would fear for his success in a purely defensive role due to his lack of physical stature.

I've seen Wolves' last couple of games with MM playing in midfield and he has performed very well, moves the ball quickly

ive said before that for me he will never make it as a top level central defender simply because of his size and stature. hes obviously a very skillful player but every time ive seen him play against a physical defender he`s been battered, and considering pretty much every team now has a physical forward he will never settle in that position.

I don't think he'll ever be as good as that 6'6 brick sh*thouse Ashley Cole.

I love your username, btw. Steely Dan rule.

While on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers - Michael Mancienne back to the memory of your memories of the years and gave a very interesting interview. Now, for the young Michael when he was a boy to feed the ball at Stamford true hero and a star was Gianfranco Zola.

Mancienne well remembers times when he was 15 years old and went to school. It was then that the side of the turf in 2003, watched with bated breath the actions of the Italian superstar.

I loved to watch the game Zola. I attended all matches and saw him. He was like a lizard, such as this toy to watch

Often admired by Marcel Desailly'ego game. Applied the elements of a large part of his game in the range of my skills as a defender, who felt comfortable in possession of the ball

I never had the chance to speak with Zola or with Marcel. I was eight or nine years

When they played for Chelsea, I was a boy to make balls. I can not say that somehow I remember particularly a few exceptional games, but I admit that I was close to my favorite players

In absolute contradiction to that post I recall the game against Sunderland and he was up against Kenwyne Jones. Jones is fairly physical and good in the air, I recall Mancienne winning pretty much every thing in the air and holding his own against a fairly physical striker.

so one game, as opposed to at least 7 or 8 ive seen this season. ask a wolves fan what they think about him, i would be surprised if they werent anything other than dissapointed in him.

Man of the match in the game against West Ham playing in the defensive mid role. Mick had expressed earlier in one of his interviews that Mancienne is at his best when he plays in a central position (CB/CDM) and I would agree to it completely. He has been exemplary in playing the sweeper role and its not just one game he had Gerrard in his pocket. His ability to break up play and anticipate things sets him apart from the other defenders. He is more in the Carvalho/ Baressi/ Cannavaro mould and these defenders tend to blossom late in their careers.

DM may well be his position, but centre half definitely isnt as he is easily bullied and simply isnt up to it physically in my opinion. its a shame as hes obviously a very classy player, if he does come back then i would expect him to be a DM or full back.

lol at the people in page 1 saying get ALex out.

Paulo is the CB who needs to move on if anyone, Ive been saying that since the summer.

Alex is a valuable player, imo almost as much as Ivanovich

I don't think people were calling for Alex to leave, it's just back in that January transfer window there were rumours going about that Alex was going to leave as he wasn't getting 1st team regularity

Scott

As people said, He is way to skinny, he needs to do some work in the gym if he ever wants to become a good Defender.
