Matic

Can't blame him for wanting to go, we signed Bakayoko so the conversation between him and the club must have been do you want to sit on the bench or go?

He's still only 28 and been starting for a top club for 3 years, he's not going to give that up when there's an opening at United. Makes you appreciate Cesc even more huh?

The question isn't who we replace him with but who we replace the 4th choice CM - i.e Chalobah with, another youth or I think it will be a player bought in with a smaller reputation.

Dont think he strenghtens Utd one bit. Herrera already does everything Matic does, only better. Herrera and Matic in a midfield pairing diesnt work well either. Speaks volumes to how little Conte rates him that he doesnt even care if he goes even if we are short on options. Even to a rival. If the fee is 40 mill as rumoured thats a fantastic deal. A year from now we will all sit back and laugh at Utd

No matter how good or bad matic has been for us over the yrs and however much we get for him iam f**king sick of us selling to rivals really pisses me off and makes one wonder what the f**k the board are playing at!!!

he wants to go, utd are the only ones willing to pay what we want. that's it really. i think one thing great about our owner/board is they're not willing to keep a player who wants to leave, no matter how long they've been at the club.

I don't think Kante and Fabregas works that well in a midfield two to be honest. We should have 3-5-2 as an option, with Fabregas beeing given a bigger role this year by Conte. We already switched to that formation several times last season during games, makes no sense to me not to have 4 quality central midfielders to be able to switch from 3-4-3 when there is a need.

Why do we sell to rivals when they won't sell to us? Yes he's been on the decline for a while and we are getting a great amount of money for him but he would still strengthen them, we must have a replacement lined up surely otherwise we will struggle big time.

Kind of surprised about this... and I agree about not selling to a rival even though you don't see him as a starting option. I still remember when Evra took over our left back position and Heinze wanted to move to Liverpoo...

There was just no way in hell that he would be allowed to make that move

40m+ for a 29 year old who doesn't contribute enough in either attack or defence is a good deal in my opinion. My only worry is that we'll be going into the season with 3 Centre-midfielders, especially as none are out-and-out defensive midfielders. Can definitely see 2 more CMs arriving in the next few weeks, but as of now I can't really tell who that will be which is worrying.

Shame that whilst all of our tital rivals seem to be getting stronger, adding where they are short and have now got a fully sorted team, Chelsea are still seemingly 4-5 players away from having a complete squad.

As long as he's replaced then that kind of offer is far too good to turn down, and almost certainly more than anything we would have gotten from any other team.

Reports now saying he's completed a medical.

Personally, I don't like strengthening rivals and I doubt many do so I really hope the board have someone in mind or deep in negotiations with a player that will strengthen the team or provide options for Conte.

I'd rather we spend money on quality than keep it in the bank

I'd have taken a fair few quid less from Juve, maybe they weren't that interested.

Matic was always limited by his one footedness and his fear of putting in a proper challenge.

I'mm sure he'll do fine for United but he's limited and in my mind found out.

Herrera doing a Kanté job alongside him with Pogba ahead is very good on paper.

weakness from the board i bet utd wouldnt sell us a player
There's a better chance of Mourinho stabbing his own hand than give us any of his players. This is the guy that canceled the transfer of Ba to Arsenal because it strengthens them

Kind of disappointed by Matic for not wanting  to fight for the starting spot (unlike fab) , We really could of have great depth at CM if he stayed which would have been great .

Remember Matic wanted to leave last year too but Conte convinced him to stay and Conte already said times and times that he don't esmt players  that don't want to be at Chelsea , so maybe it was Matic who forced the move....

Selling to United doesn't bother me really , look what happen to mata and how many time did we moan about Matic in the match threads last year , almost every game ...

I'm really interested who we gonna bring in now and let's hope balayoko makes us forget about Matic quickly !

we've also indirectly sold de bruyne and lukaku to manchester clubs, not including directly with mata and matic now oh and lampard went to city. there's something about ex-players of ours going up north
