Geeks were original a circus act, biting heads of chickens and whatnot (Bob Dylan lyrics are as good a source of etymology as any, right?).

Nowadays though, a geek is someone who is obsessively interested in a subject, a computer geek, a film geek, or even a football geek. A nerd is someone who is socially awkward, which can be accompanied by obsession, but isn't exclusively so.... interesting image to go along with it.

Massive fan of the guy, best guitarist on the planet. His studio albums don't really show how good a musician he really is.

 
Saw several of his tours before he went gaga, and the live shows are some of the best I've ever seen.

However, not to take anything away from the man, you really have to give a big slice of the credit for Prince's best music to George Clinton, Parliament, Funkadelic and Bootsy Collins' solo work.

 
You must give him credit though, for a 50-something, he is looking FINE! (no homo). Vegetarianism must do him good.

Too bad he's a bit of an ego-maniac. Kinda hard to track down his songs on youtube.

 
You won't find that much on Youtube, his stuff doesn't stay on there long. Uploaders are even disguising titles to get his live stuff on there.

Look for Montreux 2009, there might be a few of those on there. I have the full set on DVD and its absolutely brilliant. Also, Musicology from 2004 is worth a search.

Damn Purple Rain is boss, and I'd forgotten how good When Doves Cry was.....

 
Did anyone see the series of shows on BBC3 just before xmas? It was brilliant showing his entire career followed by Purple Rain. My wife didnt really know much about him and his music but absolutely loves him now. I always thought he was very unlucky to be basically up against Michael Jackson for the majority of his career, who was much more mainstream.
