Could have gone for either but plumped for Cahill as I feel he is a very underrated player and IMO took some rather unfair criticisms on these forums last season more, I felt, for the fact that he didn't have curly hair and wasn't Brazilian, rather than any obvious and repeated defensive frailties.
I would disagree, Cahill generally is our most mistake-prone defender. But, along with JT, he was excellent last night. So good on him.

JT for MOTM. I haven't seen play that well for a long time. Really encouraging to see.

3 votes for Mikel? He was only on the pitch for 5 minutes.

No wonder the boy gets so much stick on this forum.

JT was captain of the back four that has conceded the fewest amount of goals in a Premier League season, in my mind that makes him THE greatest defender of the Premier League because he captained the best defense.
He's the best defender to played in this country in the last 50 years, no question, though nobody cares to admit it, except me.

Because Davey it's far more fashionable to hate on JT than to give him any sort of praise.

Heaven forbid (English) Footballers be judged on what they do and achieve on the football pitch and people not base their opinions on soap opera generated by the nations media.

If Terry were Spanish/ItalianBrazilian he would have been hailed as one of the world greats. Always willing to put his body on the line for club and country, a truly passionate player who leads by example on the pitch and demands nothing less than 100% from himself or his team mates.

Instead we always look to knock/mock/trip our nations talents and then lament their failings in international tournaments.

He is and always will be a club legend to me and is one of the greatest players I have ever had the privilege to watch.

It's his own fault for choosing to play for the enemy of football and not one of the rightful heirs to the English throne, because then he could shag his brother's wife for a decade and still be hailed as the perfect professional and stand up gentleman.

I have a feeling we have a few Nigerian fans on the board forming a kind of cult of personality around Mikel.  Nothing wrong with supporting your countrymen mind, but it's the only way I can explain the seemingly personal outrage some posters express when you suggest Mikel isn't up to standards.

No matter.  He came on and did his job yesterday and I'm sure we'd all be delighted if Mourinho turned him into the player his personal fan club wishes he was.

Went for Oscar. He's developing quicker than I thought he would.
