This Scotland game is baptism of fire for Gareth Southgate

Lallana wants Southgate to become permanent. We'll see this weekend if he's right.

Congratulations Gareth - deserved I think the team have looked okay under him. got a tough job with this defense mind, perhaps he should go for 3 at the back.

Why did they give him a 4 year contract?
I was thinking the same thing. It only kind of makes sense if you're just hiring him off the back of a WC. Offering 4 years right now doesn't add up. Good on him for getting 4 years of guaranteed money but the FA are looking disorganized with that length. I guess they reckon he's going to do well in 2018 and they want to lock him in at a lower price :)

Four years is lengthy. Personally I would have offered only two years to last him until the 2018 World Cup.

Not the worst option for England, but definitely not one to inspire supporters either.

Is the FA only hiring English managers now?

The players England have available these days are probably what Pulis has wet dreams about.

------Walker--Cahill--Dier--Shaw/Rose

Alli/Barkley---Henderson---Lallana

-------Vardy----------------Sterling
