I was thinking of the idea of the football they like and probably always liked before joining. Possession based, build from the back, win the ball back quickly. We kicked out Pochettino who didnt see eye-to-eye over transfers, he wanted more say. No go, SD's are building the side and coach is the coach. Now we are hiring the man we have identified...so why don't we have players fitting to that football..mainly the keepers? Also Mudryk, Jackson and probably even Enzo are a bit of doubtful of fitting in Marescas football...why did we buy them if we knew what we wanted from the football ideology?

Both keepers are here on the list along with MM, Enzo and Jackson. Especially Jackson and Mudryk for me are best with space and countering opponent. Why did we buy them if we knew what we wanted from the football? Now we need to move a ton of players and every other club will know this...

Here are the players our Sporting Directors have done since being employed.

Apparently a keeper is on the list...but then again so much has been said even though no one knows anything for sure.

I am sure that the SD's must have told maresca the plan and I am sure Maresca knows he has mudryk, Jackson and Enzo in the squad.

Maresca is a relative unknown tbh, there isn't enough info on him, he was in charge of 2 squads, albeit one for only 6 months, and the other he won the league.

There isn't enough evidence that he did or didn't use the best ppl in the best positions. There isn't enough evidence he favours only one position regardless of the players he has at his disposal. There isnt enough evidence he can or can't coach a bunch of talented youngsters (lets face it, a squad better than any he's coached before). There isnt enough evidence.....you get my drift mate.

Nearly everything is speculation. Is there anything on the official chelsea site that he's even signed yet?

What we know so far that could be "fact" (i havent been on the chelsea website or social media accounts yet)..he's definitely had a chat with the sd's? He knows the squad. He knows he's just the head coach (I would guess in his mind, if he fits the programme, that after 2 successful seasons he may be allowed to recommend a player or 2)

I also agree, we know poch didn't do enough in 1 season to have a say in players.

What I'm trying to say is you might be right or he might actually be really good for us and has plans for the squad we don't know about (or its all bo**ocks and its actually rdz in the end! I will cry at that point btw.)

Maresca is a relative unknown (and for some weird reason that excites me a bit)...he hasn't coached enough teams or players with this talent to be sure on anything concrete about him, or for his past/experience to give us the full insight.

And the timing is right...finally a structure is in place (unlike when potter was here), and poch did his job and nurtured the kids (they hoped for 1 year but planned for 2 just in case, I get that). And now we need a tactical genius and I really hope he is that person. I would have preferred tuchel, love that mad German but that bridge is burned. Also...I know tuchel would at least like to pick a player or 2 and won't wait till he gets enough brownie points with the board to ask (bit like poch not doing enough for them last season). Then Cue fireworks, lol

There is absolutely nothing on the website about maresca officially joining yet...why would they be taking this long?

Are there any benefits in waiting? Is there someone else they may be interested in?

Probably waiting until about half an hour before the Champions League Final, so that we can hi-jack the CL media fest LOL (just like they did with Poch exit which knocked Gareth Southgate's England squad story very swiftly into touch)

Waiting until CL final is over me thinks.

Maybe his release clause changes on June 1st. It’s often more expensive to get a manager mid season and cut off dates are often June 1st.

Just a guess.

One of the earliest media releases, before we even settled on a manager said an appointment is expected on or just after 1st June, which i assumed had some compensation impact.

I reckon it will be announced on Sunday 2nd.

Champions League final today. Maatsen most probably starting. Why not take him back, try and sell Chilwell. Use Cucu, Maatsen and for backup Colwill as the inverted left back?

Because profits. Not even sure there’s a market for Chilwell anymore, anyway.
And, even if it can be solved in other areas of the pitch, we do need more height and physicality in our team which puts Maatsen and Hutchinson at a disadvantage atm.
I wonder about Chilwell under Maresca, doesn’t fit his profile of full back at all. If we can’t get a left winger in, I think we’ll actually use Chilly there. But then what happens with Mudryk/Sterling? Lots of transfer activity this summer as well I reckon

Arguably less of an issue with Hutchinson as an inside forward. Maatsen is a touch short of 6' but not what you'd call powerful. At Dortmund he also has the advantage of Adeyemi doing a terrific job of getting back and effectively doubling up to help Maatsen.

Less of an issue for Hutchinson absolutely, but still you want as many players able to compete physically at set pieces as possible. Although there’s an argument whether our more physical wingers in Mudryk and Madueke can do that, but at least they have the potential to do the job.
Of course there are other factors more important to an attacking player, but we’re small up front and in midfield so its an issue that needs sorting

While I think most of us agree the planning seems to be very haphazard however I don’t know where the idea Enzo isn’t suited to possession football has come from.  I think he’s perfectly suited to this, he’s not exactly an explosive box to box player, he loves to be on the ball dictating play no less so than a Rice or Kovacic.

As for Mudryk and Jackson yes probably not the best fit, but is Haaland, Doku and Martinelli?  Think you need alternate options Mahrez being the perfect example.  A team of Bernado Silvia’s may keep the ball for eternity but who’s unlocking defences or scoring the goals?

With the goalkeeper I honestly believe that all of the signings have been either temporary (Sanchez) or youth/future potential signings.  None have ever felt like a long term option in the way some of the other positions look.  Always seems to be last on the list after blowing millions on kids that will never play for us.

So some would raise an eyebrow at the eventual resting place of the much linked ex Brighton manager, but for me that last paragraph cannot be real can it.

He's had his knockers, old RDZ, but no way would he look a tit, getting a bra in from brest. He's got to follow this up with signing Areola from West Ham. What a pair they'd make.
