HUGE game, not least because we play before any of our rivals who will drop points on the Sunday.

Going to be tough but we have to win.

Spot on.

We need 3 points both for our form and to put pressure on the closest challengers....all or some of which will be dropping points this weekend.

------------------------------Cech--------------------------------

Iva----------------Cahill------------Terry----------------Bertrand

---------------------Ramires/essien----------Romeu-------------

Sturridge-------------------Mata------------------------Malouda

--------------------------Torres------------------------------------

Iva covers Sturridges lack of defensive play and Bertrand finally gets a chance to rest a tired Cole. I find it strange we havent played Bertrand more, considering how solid he has looked defending and also helping us get some crosses in.

Mata in a free playmaker/target man role to start majority of our attacks, while Romeu and Ramires/essien covers most of his defensive work.

Didnt know where to post it, so i am just doing it here

According to an article in skysports (http://www1.skysport...00/Pass-masters) which praise swansea passing game, Chelsea has the 5th best passing accuracy in europe with only Barcelona, Real, Bayern and City have better accuracy. Also Terry! has the third best passing accuracy although almost all of his passes are close ones in the back with no real pressure.

Its still remarkable though
Not wishing to be synical but these 5 yard passes in our own half are real killers!

Luiz used to play midfield before he switched to defence, so could always try it. Especially if Romeu is heading back to Barcelona in the summer
What what!?? Has something changed since AVB said he was our player now?? :(

Who is still injured?

cech

ivan/bossy luiz terry cole

romeu

ramires essien mata

sturridge torres

And although I haven't shown that as 4 3 3 its easily done that way

Big game here. As said before, spuds could drop points. I think more importantly that arsenal could drop points. We could be 7 points ahead of them after the weekend. Top 4 obviously crucial.

Everyone going on about luiz playin DM could have a good point i think as it could double up as a 5-4-1

In defence it could be..

----------------------------------------------Cech---------------------------------------------------

Ivan-------------------Cahill------------------Luiz---------------Terry-------------------Cole

and in attack...

----------------------------------------------Cech----------------------------------------------------

Ivan--------------------------------Cahill-------------Terry----------------------------------Cole

-----------------------------------------------Luiz----------------------------------------------------

Solid

Luiz himself said he is a defender, he was close ro not playing anymore when he was played out of defence.

Therefore, I think everyone should stop with tweaking formations around to fit Luiz in positions he isn't suited for those who are. Luiz is a great player, and needs to fight for his place in is position. Imagine if you were Ivan or Bosingwa and suddenly you are not playing because Luiz has been shoved out there? Oo, maybe Bosingwa is a bad example, but you get the point.

Or imagine if you were Romeu and suddenly you are on the bench to accommodate Luiz. Your be back at camp Nou in a minute

Luiz could be a good fullback. However he can also be a great central defender.

Are Ivanovic and Sturridge completely fit?

If Sturridge, Torres Mata all play up front, which I think likely then we will have to play the ball on the ground all day long and we will have to play out from the back. That's OK but it will make us one dimensional.

And with three defensive push overs in the front line we will need strong people in midfield.

Torres Mata and Sturridge might click and they might not. It will be fun if they do. Ramires is very fast as well so ....

Like those Real Madrid and Barcelona teams that also play out from the back and on the ground- very one dimensional. Best avoid this and play proper football and lump it to the big guy up top.

He is right in the sense that it makes things complicated and us very predictable. Complicated and predictable is everything we don't want to be when we are chasing everyone. We need to find the solution from somewhere between long-ball-chelsea and Barca.

I wouldn't say that a side with Sturridge, Torres, Mata, Ramires and possibly Lampard in it would be all that predictable in attack.

With Mata, Sturridge and Torres, each has the pace and skill to beat their man individually and each has the vision to create something for someone else. With Ramires' bursts through the middle there's an added threat, especially on the counter and we have Lampard popping up with his standard run. It should be far from predictable as far as I'm concerned. If some of these players don't perform of course, then we start having issues, but that's not what's being discussed here.

What's of more concern to me right now is tiredness from a few of them. Particularly Mata and Cole... possibly Ramires as well.

With the addition of Mata & Sturridge, we are certainly not as predictable as we were under Carlo last season.

However, they and Torres both need the ball in the important areas of the pitch and it is down to the other players to be able to open the oppostion up and that's where we struggle when our midfield is made up of Lamps, Ramires and Miereles. Some days it works, but more often than not it doesn't.

I find those passing stats to believe, then maybe it's the edge of the seat stuff in the final 15 minutes that does my head in when I see misplaced passes by players who are not under pressure.

Sure, but in terms of attacking players and the movement they can all provide when all playing well, defenders can't exactly afford to relax against us is what I was getting at. There are just too many options for most defences to cover, unfortunately we tend to not find the runs or players just make bad decisions (or no decision in some cases). If all are on form though, we do have a very potent attacking force. I was just arguing the idea that we're predictable if we can't lump it forward to Drogba.

HOOF!

I hope that this scenario comes to pass, only 3 teams have taken all points at Carrow Road so far - WBA, gooners & spuds. Make no mistake it will not be an easy fixture likewise the trip to S. Wales the week after. Paul Lambert seems like a very competent manager and has a couple of good strikers in Morrison and Holt, he seems tactically astute to change play as a match unfolds so we should all beware.

Luiz is a CB bought to replace Lord Percy after the promise of youth faltered yet again. Dont think Cahill will get in the starting line up this time and Essien will also be on the bench (too soon for a full 90 but you never know) but would imagine they would get some time on Saturday, its the early kick off away from home which sometimes doesnt suit Chelsea. I expect to see the same team more or less that started vs Sunderland.

I would like to see 3 points and consolidation in the top 4 but the team has now won 3 games (all comps) on the bounce so based on this season's form am prepared for a different result.
