Yes my grandstands were for show, get down to a game and they were removed, one tactic we had was when you were at home you could decide whether to play on the table or floor, my pitch being 1970 vintage was very smooth and well worn so ball went very fast, my mates had new pitches which were slower, needless to say I was unbeatable at home as the others never got to grips with my pitch remember it was early 80’s so I was the loftus Road pitch!!How on earth did you mange to play a game of subbuteo with a grandstand runing along the side of the pitch ,or god forbid if you had all sides of the pitch covered with stands I seen photos of stands behind goals and just cant figure out how you opperate your GK effectively .
my floodlights came with my subbuteo floodlight edition that i recall getting for xmass one year ,it came with two floodlights if my memory is correct and i used the floodlights a few times then just went back to basics with picth, goals ,teams ,balls ,scoreboard .
i have seen you tube footage of subbuteo tournements and they seem to play the game a far different way to how i played it .but one thing that hits Home is that they all look far too serious and never seem to have the oh oh oh that the game brought me .
I remember buying a Glasgow Celtic Subbuteo Team, must to the surprise of my Uncle.Trouble i had with subbueto was i had no one to play against ,ah so would spend hours taking free kicks from outside the box ,trying to score around and over the wall
sad but happy
i had the cfc kit but loved the palace embassey fag packet type one ,the don rogers kit, shame on me but at that age i had no real understanding of tribal hate tread
