I think that is a fair point Chippy howver it just leads me to say we need to do both - change the manager and a number of players!

It would just be another circus though. The media would be out to get him from day one.

We need to capture the imagination of the supporters.

In that respect can I nominate Nigella Lawson ?

She would get the players listening to her thats for sure. Backing of the fans ? Tick.

Im pretty sure she wouldnt bring on Belletti for Mikel either.
Good point. Anyone but Scolari. Or the fat Spanish bar steward. Or ....

Nigella Lawson it is then.

Send in the Clowns.

I think it's stunningly arrogant and perhaps naive of us to suggest Zola and Clarke would walk out on West Ham and join us at the drop of a hat.

Yet there is little doubt inside me that IF we give them the offer, off they will f**k from West Ham and come they will back home.

(spoken like a true Jedi that ;) )

I agree with you, and that is why i voted for Hiddink, he made a very good job evrywhere he was!

He might be old but still has got a modern thinking about football!

Zola and Clarkey would be the romantic choice not sure it would happen unless the financila constraints are so great as to force them out. Gullit might have now been out of top flight football for too long to be a realistic option. One only has to look at Barca once Rykaard was removed to see he possibly wouldnt be the right choice either. Erikkson and Hiddinck though both good managers fall into the 'too old ' bracket. Maybe a gritty Scot might be the answer ,Moyes has done a fabulous job over the years at Everton on little or no resources. He along with Steve Bruce and Martin O'Neill would be my standout candidates though I doubt we'd prise O'Neill from Villa now.

As I posted in another thread, my ideal choice would be Zola & Clarke, but I can't see them walking out on West Ham after such a short time.

So naturally, I voted for Ruudy!!!!

What about George W Bush? Even a monkey would do better than Scolari, and Bush is open on the market.

Zola is doing well in West Ham at the moment but i really think that its a littlebit to early for him.

O'Neill is actually my first choice at the moment. He has done incredibly well in Villa and has shown in many clubs that he have what it takes.

Moyes is as decent manager but doubt he could handle the pressure of such a high profile job. O'Neil would be a great appointment but i doubt he'd walk out on Villa .

Hiddink would be my choice just like it was before we'd hired LFS but he's staying with Russian national team until the WC 2010. Lippi would have been great but he claimed that he would never consider the job without speaking the language.

The rest is a so-so bunch. Zola and Clarke will look like a great bet for the future but I'm not ssure Franco is ready to take over such a massive job yet. Rijkaard has done well with Barca for a while and speaks English but his last season in Spain was a letdown and I'm not sure he's the "come in and save the season on a short notice" guy. O'Neill would have been a great choice but he won't leave Villa anytime soon. Moyes is decent, knows the league very well and will jump at the chance to have more money and better squad but I wonder if he's capable of making a step up.

Sven is an interesting choice. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't have him anywhere near but it's a sign of how desperate things have become that he may not be such a bad candidate for right now. Problem is, he's tied up and we'll have to spend in order to get him out of Merxican job, then sign him to a contract on top of the money we'll have to pay off Scolari with.

That could be said of any young manager. Any new man has to be given the time and space to build for the future, our mistake was to hire an older man who has limited time to put his ideas into place and make the changes that are needed. With that in mind I would limit any search to a current boss pref with premier league experience and under the age of 50.

Can't understand why people want Zola? He is not a proven manager.. sure he might be a favorite with the fans but that doesn't mean he will succeed as manager... i can see him coming, everyone being happy and then we do poorly and everyone wants him out!

O'neill has done a great job with Villa and I wouldn't mind him at Chelsea.

We need someone who is young, fiery and hungry.

We need a new farking squad and a new management setup. Bring back Jose!

The name doesn't matter so much to me BUT they must have one of three qualifications:

1. Be British

or

2. Must have managed (successfully) in England.

or

3. Be called "The Special One".

Hughes

Moyes

Zola

Clarkey

Rudy

Wouldn't mind any one of those.

Voted Hughes. Chelsea legend, did well at Blackburn, not doing too badly at Man City but could do a bit better. It'd say him and let Man City have Scolari. Scolari + Drogba to Man City and Hughes + Robinho to us?

The romantic choice is obviously Zola & Clarke, followed by Di Matteo but maybe one of those could happen some years down the line. These guys are doing well where they are where the pressue is not that great because nothing is expected of them (well not much anyway). At Chelsea it's a whole different kettle of fish as we are all too aware.

I just want someone, anyone, who has some ideas and who isn't as predictable and cluless as Scolari and his sidekick Wilkins appear to be. I like the idea of Laudrup.

Zola is to honourable to walk out on west ham especially when convinced players like Upson,Parker and Green to stay in Jan. O' Niell will never leave Villa where he has the full support of his chairman and no interference from anyone. For me i would go for Rijkaard with ruud as his assistant. Also get rid of Drogba, Malouda, possibly Anelka aswell. Bring in passionate players who are willing to fight for the club. Moyes would be a good choice aswell as he would bring passion and organisation back to chelsea. However Juande Ramos could be a major possibility according to Guillem Balague

Juande Ramos informed of Chelsea interest

The rumours surrounding Scolari’s future at Chelsea are gathering pace and the message coming from Abramovich’s aqcuaintances is that the search for a new manager is well under way.

It may seem premature, but the Chelsea owner – who visits the training ground far less frequently than he used to – is nevertheless still on top of events at the club and believes that there is a widening gulf between the current manager and his players: a group of players that is in need of an overhaul. It is felt that Scolari has failed to win neither the support of the dressing room nor the hearts and minds of the senior figures in the side.

An enquiry over a possible replacement led to the name of Juande Ramos being mentioned to me by someone very close to Roman Abramovich. Furthermore, a very well known football agent has been in touch with the Real Madrid coach to inform him of Chelsea’s interest.

Juande Ramos was on Chelsea’s list of potential managers back in the summer of 2007, but the then Sevilla coach preferred to keep the faith with his agents at the time – and who had already been in contact with Spurs – rather than jump ship and sign up with another agent who was promising him the Chelsea job.

Roman Abramovich remains an admirer of the former Spurs coach and, via the aforementioned agent, he has let Ramos know that he%2

The only thing I'd say about Ramos is if he was still in the Premiership Loz's bet on Tottenham going down would be a bit safer, we're talking about a man who's team look better under Harry Redknap, (no offence to uncle arry)

Amen to that - if Ramos was to take over then we would know for sure the lunatics have taken charge of the asylum. We have just had two consecutive managers with no track record at domestic level in the UK and it hasn't exactly been rosy, why opt for one that has had one but it was a disaster!

If the unthinkable happens and Ramos becomes manager of my beloved Chelsea, I fear for the health of half the people on here and I certainly fear for his own health and safety.

But the Spuds would be laughing their arses off.
