Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

I'm not sure why there are so many people against the idea of Auba, if we can't get Morata or Belotti then he's really our best option.
I'm not spending the season with Llorente. 

 
I don't believe we are  interested. Probably bvb using us to try bring in other bids. No proof, no inside sources. Just a gut feeling.

I'm also confused by the idea that Kane would give us 30 goals because that's what he scores. Like it's a simple bit of addition. Why not have 11 strikers and see how many goals we'd score.
From what I've seen on here these past few weeks there is a strange notion of simplifying things to the point they're meaningless. The claw for Lukaku is almost a desperate nostalgia for Drogba. He's not Drogba and won't ever be. He's faster, but worse technically. They play in different ways and have different attributes.
I try to express this fairly often, but it's not worth replacing a player with a poorer version of the same player.
Harry Kane is good but as someone else quite eloquently put it, "Levy wouldn't sell us the steam from his piss for £70m." I think a few people rate him more highly than they should because of the English hope factor. The papers and every Englishman rates him more highly because he could be the saviour of the national team. He's not going to be the greatest of all time however. He isn't Pele or the Brazilian Ronaldo. He's a good player and a good goal scorer. 
Incidentally, I think something similar has happened to Moses. After his poor time trying to make it as a winger, loans all over the place we'd all but given up on him. This year he has a break out season and plays wing back beyond all expectation. This leads to some saying that Danilo is a poor signing. Some saying that he's too expensive to be a backup, but given the inflated market that's not really true. Others saying that he's not as good as Moses. Clearly a pair of blue tinted spectacles are in need of removal or at least a good lens cleaning kit (my mum swears by putting them in the dishwasher).  Moses has been exposed more than a few times and if Danilo failed to make the grade for looking a bit clunky compared to his teammates, I can only imagine how Moses would look in that Real side. 
To my overarching point. It should go without saying that signing a player is extremely complicated. Styles can be changed without changing systems, systems can be changed without changing styles and players can be changed or not changed with all others changing. Signing Aubameyang would mean a change in style, but not necessarily a change in system. It would mean that Willian and Hazard would need to play closer for sure, but we would be blistering on the break. Something which genuinely excites me. Against the smaller teams, Aubameyang has that knack for finding space and we have two players in Hazard and Fabregas who have the ability to spot it and more so in Fab to find the pass. Pumping it to a big man doesn't have to be plan A and I'd much rather it isn't. Michy can hold the ball up and a slight rejigging would allow him to be our plan B. 
Looking at stats is all well and good for finding out current performance, but isn't necessarily a solid predictor of future performance. There needs to be some qualitative analysis alongside. The system, the style, they type of chances are all factors that need to be considered. I think Aubameyang could work for us, I think Morata would be better and I think that both would be better than Lukaku. I know at this point it sounds a bit soft to say that as we failed to sign him, but I was more resigned to that decision than excited by it. I think there was too much wrong with signing Lukaku. 
I could be proven wrong with all of this ina year from now, but hindsight is 20:20 and until then this is where I stand. Although if there's a chance we can get Griezmann as part of the Costa deal I'd carry him to Madrid on my bicycle.

I agree with everything except the Danilo stuff. I doubt you have watched him play for Madrid, he is simply sh*t! And mind you, don't ever compare him with Moses. Moses is miles ahead of him in everything. Talk about quality, exposure or what? Moses has played at the world cup, won continental cup for his country, won the league with us and he was instrumental in all those success and you are talking about Daniwhat? Who is he?

I think you are blinded by African Romance mate if you think victor is miles better than Danilo, and I doubt you watched him at porto.

Well he is welcome to Chelsea! After Moses must have kept him on the bench for 2 seasons we will loan him back to Porto.
I just want us to sign players better than what we already have. I don't think Walker is better than Moses but if we had signed him, I will be more impress than this.
 
DORTMUND FIRE AUBA WARNING

Borussia Dortmund have fired striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a warning over his uncertain future.

Speaking to German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, Hans-Joachim Watzke said: "We have told Auba: 'If you want to move somewhere, and you have a club willing to meet our demands, then come to us and we'll talk.

"But this will only apply within a certain time window, which is slowly closing. We would clearly need to get a replacement for him, which is difficult to impossible in any event.

"We will wait for a couple more days, but not for much longer. There are no offers on the table for him so far."

Clearly BD want him off their books as his age is reducing his value...the statement from their chief executive is nothing more than a come and get him plea...I think there's been some interest from AC Milan but BD want to generate a billing war but they ain't gonna get one...can't see anyone paying more than €50m for him...

 
I think he'd be a success here but the price tag is a concern (or not if you're of the "it's only Roman's money" stance)

Dortmund's come and get him plea shows how desperate they are to get rid but if they decide it's too late to sell then I think we'll have an issue with not having a viable alternative

 
There must be a reason they want to get rid of him. Perhaps there is an injury issue we are unaware of. Or they just think he is only going to go downhill from here as his pace decreases. If we are going to be spending 60m+ on a striker, i'd prefer someone who has their career ahead of them, instead of only a few years.

@Zeta with say £60mil+ in your pocket who would you be targeting? Just out of curiosity.

 
No idea. There is very little value for money in the market. We'd have to spend around 80m to get Morata, 90m for Belotti. At this rate, I'd be quite tempted to go with Batshayui as our first choice and just sign a backup. He's the kind of player who, if he was playing in Italy last season, we might be looking at now anyway. He just needs an extended run of games to show what he can do, and we'd save ourselves a lot of money.

I actually agree with you. I like PEA but £60mil is ridiculous money. Trouble being that if we put Bats in and he doesn't perform then Antonio will be slated for getting rid of Diego.

True but surely spending 60mil on a striker that's 28 and will need replacing in 4 years time Vs spending the same on a younger striker and getting 8-10 years from him is a no brainer!

With the new stadium on the horizon these factors must be considered

And if he isn't up to scratch then our season is what?

If Conte rated him then why did we see such sparingly appearances last season? If he thought he was able to be our no 1 then why have we been chasing strikers all summer?

It's a nice thought and in an ideal world we could do it but we are fighting to win trophies and STAY in the CL places, we simply can't afford to gamble on no top class striker at Chelsea. 

Be it 70 or 80 million it's not our money and staying in these CL places would more than make up for the fee paid over the course alone. Value for money is getting near impossible now so we just have to accept this is they way football is, highly inflated fees for players like never before.

I like Micy and hope he stays as we have loads of games this season but to start with him as no 1 is a huge step backwards from last season, we can't do another season like that as we saw in 2015 as its getting harder and harder to stay in the top 4.

Well you could say that about any of them. What if we spend 80m on Morata and he doesn't adapt? What if we spend 90m on Bellotti and he was a 1-season wonder? What if we spend 65m on PEA and he is Torres mk 2? When we signed Costa, he was by far the best option available to us and it was obvious why we were going for him, with the strikers available at the moment, i just don't see an obvious fit who will defintely work for us, and if they don't we've got a 70-90m player on our books, on huge wages, and we'll struggle to get rid of them, like we have with expensive flops many times in the past. It's not my money, but it's not a bottomless pit. If we waste 80m on a striker who doesn't work, that's money we can't then get back and spend on someone else.
