Poland v England

Lescott and Jagielka have been excellent in the last six months or so; it's understandable that they'd get picked over Cahill, who may be their equal ability-wise, but just hasn't had the consistent game time required.

don't agree...they were terrible in the draw against Ukraine when they played together and again against Poland...neither of them are comfortable passing the ball, hence one of the reasons why poland followed Ukraine's lead, sat back and let them have it and waited for them to give it away...defensively they were both guilty of major errors and there were a lot of last ditch tackles from players around them, glen johnson surprisingly being one, to bail them out...there was one good game I remember them having and that was against Spain last year when the whole england team helped them defend as we had everyone behind the ball...if you think they're the combo to play at the next world cup, good luck to you

When I heard that it was going to be delayed, I said ''That's the last time I ask for a stream...''

ash will be next for the chop and we will then see the 'wonderful' baines getting torn to shreds...says a lot that cahill, who I rate (no bias honest) as the best centre half in the squad now, is on the subs' bench, watching cloggers like jagielka and lescott struggle...

just embarrassing listening to Hodgson blame the fact they had to stay another night in Poland (you what?) and the pitch...terrible excuses to try and cover up for the fact that yet again our players have been exposed as simply not being good enough
Trying to balance up the Chelesa bias a bit but I have to say Ash looked as poor as anyone out there yesterday. One of his worst games for England. Apparantly the players had all been given sleeping tablets the day before and it looked like they'd all taken a few too many!!

I want to see England build for the future and that means getting rid of the likes of..............well actually just about all of those who played yesterday with the exception of Hart and the subs who came on.

I knew Cole would have a hard time in the game, he had 2 excellent players attacking him and had very little help from Cleverly, which is no surprise as he is not a winger and doesnt know how to defend as one.

What ? Lescott has been ridiculously poor , the guy can barely move. City are struggling to keep clean sheets this season and with Lescott in their defense it's not a surprise. Jagielka was better against Poland then he was against Ukraine but he is not the answer.

Statistically the best keeper in the league is Petr Cech.

Rooney was absolutely shocking, Cleverely looked decent though.
Really ? i just don't see anything in Cleverely at all, i honestly feel if he was not playing for United he wouldn't even be in the team. I think it's laughable that Cleverely is the player chosen to be the next Ozil, or Xavi or Sneider for England :face_palm:

I've never seen Cleverly do anything that warrants being in the England squad, let alone first choice midfielder. The standard of our young players coming through is just so poor. If you look at someone like Spain, they can't even fit Mata into a 25 man squad, if he was ENglish he'd be our star player and probably captain.

Sir Alex rates him a lot, that's enough for a knighthood nevermind a England cap.

I agree cole was not at his best the other day, but like when he is in a Chelsea shirt, that is the exception to the norm....when the big games come, he can be relied to be one of England's best players

 Think you're just a bit biased Brit. That sounds like double standards.

Anyway England's problem isn't their players. You have really, really good players who are important cogs at big clubs.

England pass the ball not to attack but to absolve responsbility. The entire attacking system is dependent on individuals creating for themselves, not working as a team. There is no freedom, no organisation and that manifests itself as a lack of creativity. It's like watching eleven players who compete against each other not to win but to protect their own reputations. How big a role do you think the fan culture has in that?

In short, it's not the quality of your footballers, it's the quality of your football as a whole.

yes I am biased, but I'm also right! Cole > Baines, Cahill > Lescott/Jagielka...don't you agree?

Of course Cole is the better footballer, but Baines is playing really well at the moment, certainly on par with Cole, and if I were English i'd have no problem with him starting over Cole (and as a Chelsea fan, I really hope he does sooner rather than later ;))

Cahill, of course, is a totally different class to Lescott/Jagielka. Speaking of which, tonight's volley showed that even England's centre halves are technically gifted.

Seriously how is Lescott getting picked for England ? HE CAN'T MOVE. When he played against West Brom yesterday it was his fault that they scored, his movement is ridiculously bad.
