i never realised he was that much older. I like how he gets to the byline and pulls it back. Moses tries it sometimes but his delivery isnt always the best
well, moses is our 5th or 6th choice AM

navas is their starter (most likely)

I guess Chelsea will beat them all still, even if they got some good players. Though Suarez transferring to Arsenal (only if) will be a little headache I guess.

Funny seeing pretty much everyone say we'll win the league, can't see it myself. You need a world class striker to win a title!

1. City

2. United

3. Us

4. Arsenal

5. Spuds

6. Dippers

Bayern won the triple and Mandzukic isn't exactly a worldclass striker.

^ Disagree about Mandzukic, good player but last season was outscored by Lukaku and Ba inleague goals... Torres on his day would have him also imo

I agree on this. If we don't buy Rooney/similar and a world class DM like DeRossi or Khedira we are too lightweight in the league. Tough games almost every week.City has the right players for it but a new manager, ManU has players to do it but not as much quality. If Arsenal manage to buy a big name player they will give us problems.

Went to see Arsenal-City yesterday and although it was a friendly City's new guys Negredo and Fernandinho looked very good. Jovetic looked like nothing special and Navas was completely invisible.

Well Drogba was hardly world class in his first season and same with Kezman  and we we won the league. We were the second highest scorers last season despite no world class CF and we we have also added KDB and Schurrle who will get goals.

The post I've quoted under this pretty much says what I'd of said

Mandzukic is a whole lot better than Torres or Ba or currently Lukaku.

Lukaku played 35 BPL games last season 17 goals

Ba 34-15

Mandzukic 24-15,

His strike rate was much better than the other two when you compare how many games they played it' easy to throw out similar goal tallies if they've played more games. As for Torres, him on his day was 3 years ago, so that's really bye the bye.

Drogba, Eidur, Kezman.. Who even then in my opinion were up there as two of the best (The first two) and teams weren't as inclined to sit in against us back then in my opinion. We were better off up front at that point than we are now, not too mention the teams challenging us are much better than they were.

But if you take the minutes per goal ratio Mandzukic scored one in 115 minutes in the Bundesliga for Bayern who totally trashed all of their opponents, while Lukaku scored a goal every 118 minutes in the better League for a mediocre West Bromwich team. Furthermore Lukaku had 7 assists while Mandzukic only had 3.

Eidur. I always seem to forget we had a gem like he was. What a brilliant player. He is actually the closest thing to Rooney in terms of skill as he was able to make those beautifully weighted lobs and smart passes.

^ Are you seriously undermining Bayern's achievment. They are the best team in the planet or was at least last season with Heynckes. Such a dominance against Juve and Barca in CL were just something unbeliveable to be honest. I saw no Disney charachters watching them play.

I was gutted when we sold him to Barca, Eidur's close control with the ball at his feet was sublime.

Anywho RE having a top class striker to win the league.

I agree with Drogba not being in the "world class" category in his first season in terms of goal return but his link up was very good. We had Lampard banging in 20 goals from midfield the first time around which took off a huge amount of pressure from the strikers. If the likes of Hazard, Oscar and Schurrle can chip in with 10+ goals each and Mata maintains his level of contribution then I think we can still win the league with our current set of strikers.

With slightly more than half of the season over, an interesting thread to re-visit. So my predictions to the top eight as it may be at the end:

City: Given the adroit additions to their already imposing squad prior to the commencement of the season they were always favourites at the start of the season & it must be said that they haven't disappointed in that regard: still clear favourites & firming in that regard: My prediction - 1st.

Arse: So far the quiet achievers of the season & their momentum will have surprised many on here who (rather than looking at Wenger's tidy buying in the close season) made somewhat careless judgments based on their consistent fall aways in previous seasons. That may of course still come to pass, but to be fair to them, they've impressed with their consistency this year: My prediction - 3rd.

Chels: A pleasing set of results thus far & we seem to have found a pretty settled rhythm over the last 5 weeks or so. My prediction - 2nd.

Manure: Is anyone at all surprised now that Fergie left at the end of last season? A team that's over-achieved with it's squad over the last two seasons & it was only a matter of when not if in terms of their fall. Of course van Persie's & Rooney's various absences have contributed to that fall but even with the return of those two in the future it will be difficult for them to finish above the Poo & claim fourth: My prediction - 6th.

Poo: A bit of a surprise at least to me but Rodgers seems to have them very focused & together with Suarez they're a handful for any team on their day: My prediction - 4th.

Toffees: Grinding out the results as ever together with the fact that Martinez has them playing better than Moyes - no surprises to me at least as to how they've performed & tonite should they dispose of West Brom they would go 4th: My prediction - 7th.

Spuds:  Post Bale so not surprised at their current position (5th albeit they could drop to 6th tonite) but of course they acted swiftly to get rid of of the boy wonder and they've steadied the ship in doing so: My prediction -  5th.

Toons: So far a surprisingly good year for them. My prediction - 8th.

Thoughts & your predictions you lot?

Here's my prediction from October the second in the league predictions thread, I'll stick with this, although City are in small letters because I'm still hopeful we can pull off a near miracle.

1. Man City

2. Chelsea
3. Arsenal
4. Liverpool
5. Spurs
6. Man UTD
7. Everton
