Qatar 2022 World Cup

The 2022/23 season is going to be proper sh*t. 

How can you interrupt a full season for months?

This is possibly the worst thing to happen to football in my lifetime.  

 
Part of the Qatar bid was their ability to have stadiums that would have cutting edge cooling technology to cool the stadiums during the torrid summer months. What happened to that? I guess FIFA did not realize that it gets extremely hot in Qatar in the summer... Right.

Disappointing, frustrating, but not surprising.

 
Confirmed it will start Nov. 21st and last 28 days. What a joke. How will the CL plan around this? Games pushed back to January?

Talk about f**king the whole season up or actually ruining three seasons as well as this will affect the 2021-2022 season as well as the 2023-2024 season.

I'm almost tempted to not watch it out of principle.

 
You wont have to Id bet. I dont see it having a good chance of actually being played there. Laying aside the workers and unfinished stadium problems theres a chance with this scandal going on the decision gets overturned.

It will be a PR and attendence disaster if they go ahead with holding the WC there. How many people are going to the desert just before holiday season, to a country with no booze and severely conservative laws to watch overpriced football matches? My money is on it being played in Australia or the states.

FIFA  said from the beginning that they will hold the 2022 WC in Qatar, come hell or high water. They don't care what happens, as long as they get their "Middle East" WC.  They got their bribes and their yachts nothing else matters.

 
Wonder how the games will be planned by then. Guess we will be seeing more of the Xmas week kind of schedules in Jan or perhaps the season will begin earlier in June that year? In any case, they are a bunch of corrupt turds living in their own ivory towers.

It's affecting 3 seasons of the Premier League. 

The 2021/22 season will begin earlier. 

The 2022/23 season will begin earlier and finish later.

The 2023/24 season will begin later.

The World Cup will disrupt the domestic calender's for the European leagues for three years which in my opinion is moronic. 

This is the World Cup that shouldn't have happened. Massive pile of sh*t from start to finish but at least the money men got what they wanted.

Unfortunately, these corrupts turds are too busy stuffing their faces into money bags to see these.

I think they'll change their tune when the money goes away. Some of their biggest sponsors have already spoken out against thid WC

 
Which is a sad state of affairs considering how many people have died already. Spending human lives? Fine. Sponsorship money? Ok now we are listening

But here's the thing, when one sponsor pulls out, there's at least another one that is willing to take its place. Adidas doesn't want to do it? Nike will do it. Coke and Powerade pull out? Enter Pepsi and Gatorade.

 
Leading Fifa sponsors Coca-Cola and McDonalds have demanded Sepp Blatter’s immediate resignation as president.

The two companies have issued statements saying reform at world football’s scandal-ridden governing body can only take place with its beleaguered leader out of the picture.

Swiss prosecutors last week opened criminal proceedings against the 79-year-old.

Coca-Cola, one of five top-tier Fifa global partners, said: “For the benefit of the game, the Coca-Cola Company is calling for Fifa president Joseph Blatter to step down immediately so that a credible and sustainable reform process can begin in earnest.

“Every day that passes, the image and reputation of Fifa continues to tarnish. Fifa needs comprehensive and urgent reform, and that can only be accomplished through a truly independent approach.”

McDonalds, a second-tier sponsor, said: “The events of recent weeks have continued to diminish the reputation of Fifa and public confidence in its leadership.

“We believe it would be in the best interest of the game for Fifa president Sepp Blatter to step down immediately so that the reform process can proceed with the credibility that is needed.”
