Riyad Mahrez

Agreed but you can't have it both ways. You can't have pundits like that tw@t Lawrenson creaming themselves about how Pep Guardiola has developed his squad in his image and created a brand of football that nobody else can compete with when he has spent £460m in 18 months and has four of the five most expensive defenders in the world, having replaced his entire defence from last season.

How can this guy not win everything going with those type of resources at his disposal.

And how the f **k is it that we get accused of not developing youth, buying the league, we ain't got no history, blah blah blah, yet when Guardiola does exactly this, its then total football.
I'm guessing it's because if a club like city are spending all that money, you at least expect nice football as well as trophies.  At the moment city seem to be on course for a pl title and playing good football to boot. Playing good football is seen as admirable. Right now we're the only team not playing that good of football. Utd aren't either, but they are the biggest club in england so it doesn't matter.

Rate of inflation and all that. Think of the players we bought for 30m back then, now think how much they would be worth in today's money.
at least a 100 million each for sure !

So second window in a row mahrez begs someone to take him and no one does. Wonder why.

To be fair, people do want him, but if Leicester aren't going to accept £65m plus a player for him, then there isn't really much more they can do.

I do think Mahrez has cocked up a bit here though. By trying to force a move so late in the window, he's probably lost a lot of respect from his teammates. I wouldn't be surprised to see his form drop off, his value to decrease and his options of where to move next to be limited.

Given the ages of Pedro/Cesc - and I know they don't necessarily play the same role - I think this would have been a great move in January. Need to start thinking about life after some of these "older" players and life after this manager's, in terms of playing style.

I read on the red café that Mahrez did not insert a release clause in his contract unlike Kante.

I read he had the clause removed for a big pay rise in his new contract he got after they won the league, so he has no argument really.

Mahrez is a good player, but not worth 90 million. Would pay 60 million for him max.
I agree. I'm a big fan, but paying over £60m for a player that doesn't have much European competition experience is really risky.

My sense is that his mentality is poor. Very up and down and throws the toys out of the pram when he doesn't get a move.

Pass. We need leaders not mecurial types. We have enough of those.

To be fair, he handed in a transfer request at the start of the season but just got on with things when Leicester decided to keep him. We'll see how he reacts this time around. He'll definitely move in the summer and i would still love us to go in for him.

Look elsewhere isn't that easy though, players as good as Mahrez and PL proven are hard to find.
understood, i just think that some of the recent history, and seeing the price tag, that we have to look elsewhere.  I'm not saying that he's not a good player, and he'd be a great addition to the team, i'm merely saying that we should be out looking elsewhere.  I also think that he is priced out of the Chelsea market at this point
