Spot on. I'd add adaptability. To be able to recognise when something isn't working and the sense to change it. To play players in thier best positions. To support any inexperienced youngsters YOU decided to put into the team by having enough self-control that you don't throw a touchline tantrum when the kid doesn't play a pass you feel he should.A better product on the field than what was served to us at the end of TT’s reign. A man manager, the ability to connect and fire up the team, despite the occasion - be it CL group game, or an away match on a cold and rainy November evening. Grit. Determination. Flexibility and fluidity. Top 4 is a pipe dream if we don’t get our **** together and play as one committed unit.
Conte didn't come in during the season. In the past we have done quite well with new managers coming in during a season. Conte in particular, Di Matteo to some extent, and of course Tuchel.
Anything outside Top 4 is a complete disaster in my opinion. Especially with an inexperienced coach like Potter at the helm I think that could lead to a very extended period out of the Champions League.Realistically, top 6 and either FA or league cup final appearance. For me this season is a rebuild for next year already.
We're always in transition, as long as I can remember. It's the T word being dusted off when our results disappoint, together with the dreaded WUC (wake-up call). I personally would like an even keel once in a while, but it's Chelsea, and Chelsea don't do even keel. So I aim for a maximum heart rate (at my age) of 170 during any match this season.I'm struggling to grasp what this season even is.
A write off?
A transition?
A rebuild?
You don't win the Champions League, CWC, spend 250m and then try and claim this season's failures is pinned on one of those categories.
My thoughts haven't changed. Top 4 and a trophy.
