I think it would be a good move for him, as long as we have someone come in for cover (Lukaka, Neymar, etc)

From what Sturridge is saying today, there's not the slightest suggestion that he might go out on loan. From the official site - also loved the quotes from Jacob Mellis at the end of the article:

STURRIDGE: CONFIDENCE BUILDING Daniel Sturridge is already looking to the weeks ahead after his goal helped us return to winning ways against MSK Zilina on Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old forward struck early in the second half to level the scores before Florent Malouda clinched the win five minutes from time.

It was Sturridge's first goal since netting against the same opposition two months ago, but now he has one he is confident that more will come if he continues to see regular action.

'I feel lively and I've had some chances in the last few games, so it's a good feeling to be back on the scoresheet,' he said after the game. 'Hopefully I'll get a chance in the next few games to show what I can do on a regular basis.

'I was happy playing in my position up front and it was great to be able to play there. The manager showed faith in me and I was glad I was able to score a goal.'

After successive defeats without Chelsea scoring, it was important we bounced back with victory against the Slovakian champions.

'The main thing for us was to go out there and win, we just wanted to put a performance on for the fans and regain our confidence, and I'm sure we've achieved that,' continued the striker.

'We had to play as a team and the goals would come, luckily for us we started to play our football and things happened for us.

'We've been trying to do that in the last few games but we've not been able to get wins. In the last game against Birmingham we had loads of shots but were unlucky not to win that game, but as long as we play the Chelsea way we shouldn't have many problems.'

The win against Zilina means we progress from Champions League Group F as winners regardless of the result against Marseille in a fortnight - it also gives Carlo Ancelotti the option of blooding more youngsters to gain European experience.

The latest to be given his chance was Jacob Mellis, the 19-year-old introduced as an injury-time sub at Stamford Bridge.

He may not have been given long to shine, but the England youth international was delighted to make his first team debut.

'I'm buzzing!' he smiled afterwards. 'The manager just told me to go on and keep it simple next to Ramires. That was it really. I didn't get too long but I got a touch and won a tackle, but just to get on was the main thing, so I am really happy.'

Sturridge shouldnt go out on loan, he should be given starts rotating with Kalou/Anelka to be fair, hes got that potential to become a great player if given time.

I've just found this interview with Talksport:

Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has spoken of his ambition to break into the full England side. The 21-year-old scored his side’s equaliser on Tuesday night against MSK Zilina and admitted he must hold down a regular place in the Chelsea first team before he can expect to be a regular for the national team.He told talkSPORT: “It’s difficult for me here as I’m playing on the wing and I’m a striker. It’s a learning curve for me at the moment playing out of position, playing wide for the team and hopefully in the future I’ll be able to play upfront and start scoring goals and get myself into the reckoning for the England side.

“It’s every players dream to play in the England side. It’s obviously my dream, I’ve been dreaming of that since I was a young boy and hopefully I can fulfil this dream in the future. If I get more opportunities at Chelsea playing regularly then I can prove to the bosses in the England camp that I’m good enough.

He added: “I’m not going to say that the older players should be ousted and we should all get our opportunities because of what’s happened. That’s totally wrong for me to say that and for anyone to think that.

“At the end of the day the World Cup happened. We were unfortunate not to do as well as we wanted to do and the senior players that are in the England squad have to help the young players.

“I don’t think the young players can go in and do a job straight away. If we get the opportunities we’ll try and take them but it’s difficult to go in when you’re being judged for one game. If you don’t do well then you may be deemed not good enough.â€

Make a sentence form these words...

Chance, a, not.

Wiht Borini aready looking like he is surplus, I'd be pretty worried about Sturridge's chances if he were to go on loan. I think having only just bought him, and with him only just starting to move into the periphary of the first team, I just think this is a non starter

Doubt he'll go out on loan. He's 2nd backup after Kalou for the front three (when everyone is fit). Only if we're considering signing someone in january could he leave. Who knows, maybe we're still chasing Neymar (please don't restart that thread again) and with him Sturridge might become 3rd choice.

But I don't think this will happen. He'll stay here for the rest of the season.

Yup, unless there are several new faces coming in january (no way) then we would be insane to give up another squad player. Especially one who 1. gives us something different in attack 2. may have just had a breakout game. Time will tell on no. 2

Is that comment for real?

Sturridge on loan?

I think there is more chance of Yorkley & BrewCrew exchanging Christmas cards.

Another interview with Sturridge in which he states that he wants more playing time, making clear his intentions to fight for a starting place at Chelsea, but also that if "opportunities don't come in due time, obviously I will have to look elsewhere", which sounds fair enough to me.

From Sky :

Sturridge wants bigger roleBlues youngster hopes for more playing time

Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge wants more chances in the first-team this season as he looks to make himself a regular at Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old Blues forward has found himself a bench player with the West Londoners since his move from Manchester City last year, although he is beginning to feature more heavily in Carlo Ancelotti's plans.

Sturridge has made seven Premier League appearances for Chelsea this term but they have all come from the bench, and he admits he needs to be starting more games.

"I'm at the age when I want to be starting. I'm not saying the manager needs to oust other players to get me in but I need to be playing more often," he said in the Daily Mail.

t's important at a young age to be playing regularly because that's how you learn to play the game.

"When you're coming off the bench it's difficult to get into the pace of the game and do well. I don't want to be branded a super-sub. I'd rather be branded a super-starter.

"It's quite frustrating but you have to find a way of dealing with that because you're not going to get everything your own way. The opportunities will come.

"Look at Gareth Bale. He's doing amazingly but it wasn't so long ago people were talking about how he hadn't won a game. That's from the confidence of playing regularly."

Sturridge arrived at the Bridge in July 2009, with Chelsea and City agreeing his transfer fee by tribunal after his previous contract had expired.

Championship outfit Swansea tried to take him on loan earlier in the week but the England Under-21 international is keen to prove himself with the English champions.

"If the opportunities don't come in due time, obviously I will have to look elsewhere. Because it is only a matter of time until you get frustrated," he added.

"But you have to be patient at a club like Chelsea. Going out on loan doesn't always do you good.

"It could be better to stay and work hard because it will then feel so much better when you do get your chance.

"I want to be a regular at Chelsea - not anywhere else. I believe I am able to start games for Chelsea. I've spoken to the manager about getting opportunities."

1 mediocre game, against a sh*t team, doesn't mean he is the answer. Personally I think he looks uncomfortable on the ball, very one sided (as seen in the last minutes at Birmingham), & not yet good enough to command a place in the team. I hope he proves me wrong, but thats my opinion.

To know whether he is the answer we need to put him in challenging situations and to me he has passed most tests that he has been put into. In Jan when we were short of strikers due to the ACON he stepped up in the FA Cup and ensured we dint have to rely too much on Anelka. He pretty much stepped up against Zilina and got us the winner. One sided? Yes he looks to be one of those player but you cant rule out a youngster on that basis, had that been the case we'd have never seen a star like Messi (not comparing the two). Fact is he was one of the better performers in a young side that we put out against Zilina.

Believe me, if Kalou is good enough to merit a starting place, Sturridge certainly is.

We will only know if he is going to be good enough long term if we get to see him play a bit more regularly. I reckon he will prove himslef and I see him as the perfect replacement for Anelka.

Kalou finishing is woeful, but the rest of his play is good. He has been one of our better players through this slump. Close to MOM vs Fulham & also made a difference vs Zillina.

If Drogba got a long term injury, would you really be happy with Sturridge coming in?

I think a loan deal to a decent championship side like Swansea would do him wonders (Sinclair doing very well). Remember JT came back from Forest a much better player, it can work as long as they play.

Sturridge would walk into the most PL sides first 11, why would he go to the Championship?
