Looks like it will be a done deal soon, 25m euros and his agent is flying over apparently now to London

 
He sounds like an exciting prospect and it's nice to beat spurs to a player.

However I'm a little worried that all our signings seem to be in the 'Mata' mould? Small creative types.

I was hoping for someone who could also be used up top (jovetic) or with power/pace (hulk).

Internacional insist they have not received any offers for Oscar, but have not ruled out a move away for the playmaker.

have stolen a march on Premier League rivals Tottenham by making an offer for the highly-rated 20-year-old.

Oscar's agent, Carlos Meinberg Neto, claimed Chelsea had tabled a €25million (£19.8m) bid for the Brazil international and that a deal could be done soon.

However, Internacional president, Giovanni Luigi, claims there have been no offers for Oscar or his team-mate Leandro Damiao, who also been linked with a move to Tottenham.

Luigi admits Internacional may be forced to sell a player before the close of the transfer window, but is adamant they have yet to receive an offer for any player in their squad.

"There have been no offers for Oscar and Leandro Damiao," Luigi told Radio Gaucha

 
I heard that his current team have said that there is no deal yet, they said they havent even had an offer for him.

If we did sign him then i am trying to think where he will fit in the team. If Robbie will go ahead with the 4-2-3-1 we were playing last season then where does this guy fit in? Also where does it leave the likes of Mikel,Essien, Rambo and Lamps? only 2 spots for all those players and i've even missed off Malouda, Raul, Josh, KDB.

 
I've been speaking to someone who watches Brazilian football regularly and he says that he's very much in the Modric mould, although does tend to venture forward a little more. He's apparently very good and doesn't waste the ball often.

So from the sounds of it, if we do sign him, he's going to play in the double pivot with Mikel/Romeu, effectively competing with Lampard and Meireles. I'm also assuming that this signing, like the Modric rumour would mean that Ramires is considered primarily for the place on the right. I also reckon it signals the end of Essien's time here, probably Malouda's as well and Meireles will probably only stay until KDB comes back from the loan I expect him to go on this season. Kind of means that Josh is going to have to do something special to make it here. Piazon I reckon is more likely to make it covering Mata in the number 10 position.

 
There are too many reliable sources claiming this guy is coming here now.

Probably will deny everything until its completed, They may even not say anything until Chelsea do etc.

He's a cracking player by all accounts and could end up even better than modric.

Rumour has it internacional want to bring Ganso in, Well if thats true what does that say about Oscar?

He looked good in the games I saw for Brazil, Not sure about his club career....looks good on youtube!

Could it be they won't do anything till after the Olympics? If he has an outstanding games then his price will surely increase from perhaps 20m to 30+?

 
This deal is welcomed with open arms...i did fear we were going to be held to ransom for modric only to see spurs sign Oscar as a replacement! Oscar is very much in the modric mould, always wants the ball and is definitely the sterter motor for the engine - in our case this would be mata! i hope very much this lad is given his chance as very versatile and i dont think his coming into the squad will take josh's place but allow us to get rid of some of the dead wood at the club

 
I don't really understand this one, he's obviously a good player but not only is he not really needed, it's also a waste to sign him and then play him in the pivot role. If we are signing him for the pivot, then there are much more reliable players that can be got with that amount of money.

Just strange to me, not going to moan about it if he does sign but it's not a signing that fills me with confidence either. Would still rather play the likes of Romeu.

 
The club obviosuly have a far better idea than us on here how effective this boy will be if indeed we do sign him. We have obviously done our homework on the lad and for €20 odd million that's a given.

Sometimes you have to take the chance on these young brazilians before the Madrids, Milans ect get their hands on them and we are left kicking ourselves. I'm just glad our club is in a position we can bid and bring over these talents ahead of the other clubs.

 
Doubt RDM had anything to do with this either. The scouting in this club is awful. Seems like we're just going for the names.

How do you know we have not been looking at this boy for a while?

I don't understand how you can slate our scouting network when they have brought in talents like Marin, Luiz, Ramires, Hazard and are reported to be close to bringing in one of Brazils best talents....

I'm all for taking chances but for £25m that seems like an amount that's going to be spent on a first team player. It's no secret that Brazilians always find it hard to adjust to the EPL either, it's why they will always pick Spain. Italy, Portugal above England. There's no reason to kick yourself over it, it's just the style of play over there suits them better.I just think that for an important role such as the CM's, we need quality experienced players. And for £25m, we can easily get that.

Of course I'm sure that we are still looking at others but for now we haven't heard anything.

It's not our money though, if Roman is willing to spend his money on a young guy with bag fulls of potential then why not? It's not us who call the shots, Roman has brought us many a trophy so far with the players he has brought in. I honestly would welcome this boy with open arms.

It's not as easy as saying there are better options out there for £25 million because as soon as a club hears the name Chelsea they knock on another £5-10 million onto the price because they know we have bucket loads of cash and it's hard to get these players like Schurle.

I know it's not our money but it's still a player coming into our club, therefore we can voice our views on the player. Like I said before though, I don't mind his signing, I actually like the guy a lot.That only happens when clubs don't particularly want to sell, M'villa for example could be bought for £25m and him and his agent have already hinted at leaving. And like you say, it's his money so another £5-£10m won't matter if we want a proper quality pivot.
