also, will you be bringing non italians such as camoranesi and amauri to ensure you're failure occurs slightly after the group stage?

 
Camoranesi as Italian as lasagna. Amauri tempting... though apart from enjoying excessive use of hair gel has very little connection with Italy so he can't be involved.

 
argentina is not italy.

if it were you might be able to muster up some football to offset the cynicism.

alas, you will have to make do with only cynicism.

well, that and 0-0 draws with belgium. but that goes without saying.

I now have my FM2010 tactics sorted. Played one pre-season friendly against AC Milan with a multi million pound squad and won 1-0 - that makes me FM2010 Manager of the Decade.

seriously, if you don't make the final itself with the players you have available, consider yourself a choker of thierry henry-esque proportions.

Im defaintly up for this, but who do i choose.....

Brazil, Spain or Portugal....

I would love nothing more to give g4 a little wink with portugal but also have David Villa and Torres... however since Chelseabootboy has put Brazil back on the shelf i will take Brazil.

I will bring the greatest striker to have ever kicked a ball back to the World cup and make him top goal scorer once again! The Phenomenon will be back!

To be honest, Loz it's the shorts aint it? You just couldn't resist.

As for Pauly it's a shame really, it would be nice to recreate the 94 final and have one of your Italians sky the pen. Shame you wont make it past the group stages with that squad of yours most of them should be in homes by now. Im sure you could always put Luca Toni up top, that worked in the Euros right..... oh wait.

At least you'll take home the trophy for the best national anthem that counts for something right?

aahahahahaa!! very nice. The shame would be great.

Henry has said he will probably take GErmany if invovled. I suggest either next weekend or the weekend after for squad selection (or during next week if people are available as picking a squad won't take long, then we can talk about Day 1 and the first humiliations of the tournament. I played a world cup last night.... it did not go well... even by English standards- the pressure is mounting- like Loz when he seesb free roadkill vulnerable on the side of the road.

Speaking of the Fat Ronaldo (pictured above with his infamous female pubic triangle hairdo) I bought him on he cheap(ish) for CHelsea. The media thought I was nuts, pointed out his injury record and asked if it concerned me.

The buck toothed millionaire comes off the bench in the Community Shield to score twice as I beat Utd 3-0. Opening day of the season I give him the nod ahead of Drogba. 18 minutes later he is carried off - out for 7 weeks. OK Nicolas I will take you off the transfer list, lets put all this 'Not needed at the club' stuff behind us shall we.

 
Right, I've had FM2009 (yes, I'm still behind in the times on the whole 2010 malarky) since last Christmas, and but for a successful first try at it (losing out on the league on the last day, won the League and FA Cup), I've been absolutely dire ever since, I think the longest I've lasted is until February, get sacked, manage some Spanish team for a few months, get bored and start again. Repeat.

So, I'm just wondering, how do you lot go about your games? I'm genuinely useless at it.

Wow, that sounds really bad! :Whistle:

A rough guide to what I do when I take charge is this...

1. Look at the squad, and work out a rough formation or two which would best suit the squad.

2. Do a player search to find out who'd join and can improve the squad (taking money into account obviously).

3. Create a rough tactic.

4. Scout the players I'm interested in signing.

5. Look at the coaches, physiotherapists, scouts and training schedules, to sort out whether they can be improved.

Then press continue.

However, I'm guessing it's the tactics where you struggle the most, so your best bet for that would be to read the Tactical Theories & Frameworks produced by FM-Britain. The '09 version can be found below.

Although having said that, I'd highly recommend getting FM2010 and the new TT&F, the tactic creator which they have in the new game makes it FAR easier to get your team to play exactly how you want them to. I hope it all helps though.
