Thibaut Courtois

Not many players have left Chelsea on such bad terms in recent years, says a lot about Courtois character and attitude to the club I suppose. 

Was meant to be Cech’s long term replacement but left after just three years despite being offered a huge contract by the club and having allowed him to stay at Atletico for three years.... now he joins their bitter rivals, so their fans won’t be too impressed with him either. 

Burning all his bridges isn’t he?

 
He's already changed his twitter bio to say Real. And he is being welcomed

Even costa who went on strike for 2 months will be more fondly remembered than Courtois.

It's a shame really. He's just so unlikable. 

It hasn't turned into the disaster I feared anyway, so I'm not that bitter. 

Just hope he doesnt start tapping up hazard now.

and ruining our statistic of Messi never having scored against us despite playing against our team many times.

In fact, hard to see past anyone being happier than Lionel Messi at this transfer.  Hit a couple low and accurate shots and you'll get goals if TC continues his CFC form.

Not to mention, that he threw his dollies out of the pram, just to get Cech relegated to the bench.

 
He spent as long here as he did at Atletico. I am sure their fans won't be as annoyed as ours due to the comments he's made and actions during his time here though.

Goodbye and good luck to you tibo. I don't like how you have gone about this transfer, it shows a lack of respect for the club we love and our fans.

However I get the desire to be closer to your kids and play for the great real Madrid. You could have just done this all in a much better way. You are a good keeper, let's see if you can prove yourself as good as you think you are. Good luck :)

I think he may just struggle at Real Madrid, he looks flustered with the ball at his feet, and Madrid keepers have to use their a feet a lot.

Thought they’d be a lot happier, maybe the longstanding link to De Gea had them hopeful for having Spain’s number one between the sticks for them again?

 
His best save imo is the one handed save off PVA’s shot in the 90th minute two seasons ago.  I can never forgive him for allowing Messi to score from an impossible angle with his right foot when the ball passed between his legs early in the return leg, killing any slight chance we had to make it to the next round of the CL.  

 
I'll be honest and admit that losing a keeper of his ability is something of a blow. 

However, his antics will IMO have put him not too far behind the likes of Bogarde/Mutu/Gallas/Poyet in the Chelsea Hall of Shame, even though one can sympathise with someone wanting to be closer to their kids. 

In my view, he was excellent in his first season here (2014/15), but he was never quite as good as Cech was at his best, nor is it not clear to me that he would have fared as well in Sarri's system as he originally did with Conte/Mourinho. Courtois at his best was a brilliant shot-stopper with sure handling who could position himself superbly, but his distribution IMO was fairly average and he was never the quickest keeper around. 

Also, I never really believed that he could raise his performances when the rest of the team was struggling, or after he returned from injury. In 2015/16 he suffered from an injury and after he returned he seemed reluctant to come off his line, was spilling balls regularly and was constantly misplacing passes. He also wasn't that impressive last season either. 

Performances that stand out for mine include his heroics versus Liverpool at Anfield during the 2014/15 League Cup, which kept us in the tie, alongside his miracle save off a rasping shot from Van Aanholt at Sunderland in 2016/17. His triple save against Hull in 2014/15 was great too.

Their transfers must worry their fans. How the hell do they replace Ronaldo's goals? Not just his goals either, it's his presence too, that alone is usually enough to scare most teams. So far, not a single one of their players can replicate that, only Bale get's close but he's injured so much and seems to have an on and off reputation at Real Madrid. Barcelona will walk the league again this year, it will be easier than it's been in years for them, and it was pretty easy last season.

Don't mean to be pedantic but that goal changed nothing, we started the game needing a goal anyway, it was Dembele's goal that put us in serious trouble.
