We had better act QUICK in the Transfer Market

Considering that sh*te he came out with about politics maybe he will wait until his biography is out to tell us exactly why he loves them :)

What "latest revelations" about Ashley Cole? The same boring sh*t from the Daily Mail about him and Gerrard, or the fact that he was pictured doing something other than smiling on the plane back to England? Real Madrid always get their big name, and in Di Maria they have made a misstep. If Ashley Cole would rather be in Spain then so be it.

Barcelona are already loaded with talent and are just adding players like villa who have a hard on for them. We were never in that race because its becoming obvious that La Liga is hoovering up all the world's best talent. Hiddink and Mourinho showed they can be beaten in Europe.

Man City are just signing everyone with the aim of putting together a winner, yet they still dont have a convincing defense or manager, imo. I am fine with them picking up a billion great players, because they can only play 11 at a time, and the rest will get bored and leave. They are also panicking becuase they are worried about financial fair play and all that nonsense.

Just because all these clubs are doing something it doesnt mean we should panic. For all intents and purposes they have unlimited budgets, but we are stuck with some financial responsibility now. And buying someone like Ozil, after he has had a great world cup, would be doomed from the start. The aforementioned clubs would come rushing in as soon as Werder made our interest public and suddenly we would be in a bidding war we couldnt win.

Well, it seems that the likes of Citeh, Madrid and Barca are streets ahead of us in the Tranafer Market.

Does that mean the Transfer Market is all ours?

;)

Ashely had signed new contract. He won't go!

I don't think anyone in the entire world apart from some kid who grew up on Maine Road could ever honestly say they've always wanted to play for Man City.

Nevertheless their squad is very impressive this year

Given

Boeteng - Lescott - Toure - Bridge

Barry - Toure - De Jong

Johnson - Tevez - Silva

Unfortunately if we keep the squad as it is, I dont think we will be able to beat Man City next year...we couldn't even beat them this year.

People have to realize that this year wasn't as great as it appears. If Drogba was called offside in the win against Manu (you all know it was) then we would not have won the epl. Furthermore, this year was our worst performance in the CLeague going out in the round of 16, irrespective of losing to the champions. Not so much the lose but the style of the way we lost it, we got smashed.

We need to stop thinking that we are so great cause we really are not that good. Drogba and Anelka are past it (see Anelka in WC, absolutely horrible) and Lampard is also past his prime. Some make the argument that he scored the most goals in his career last year however you have to realize that almost half were from penalties and 4 or 5 were from our 7 goal games. Note he did not score in any of our big matches.

What people need to realize is that thie coming year will not be the same as previous years. Especially with the World Cup, our aging players will not get the rest they normally would have, in addition being older than most clubs, this rest is essential. It is obvious that most of our players Drogba/Anelka/Lampard will not be as good as last year, and this is to be expected as they are getting older.

Unfortunately the problem with our club is that we are failing to move on, Barca moved on club champions such as Ronaldinho/Deco/Etoo who have done so much for their club, we shuld not be afraid to do the same ...you can't live on the past forever, If this continues, City will easily overpass us next year if not this year.

Star is correct, we need to making signings ASAP, even though this may mean that we have to pay more than what players are worth cause atm we are easily behind Man City, Barca and Real

Maybe Silva will end up like Robinho and think he was going to play for Man Utd. Look he's a good player and he'll do alright, but we shouldn't let ourselves be distracted from what we're trying to do. We've got an excellent squad that has experience and familiarity and we'll certainly add to it this summer. We've also got to be aware of the restrictions coming into place and trying to keep ourselves on a solid footing from that angle.

There is a reason City are paying big for these guys, and that is because they haven't made it yet. It only took us two seasons to get where we wanted to be, City haven't got there so they'll keep buying. The truth is, the place they really need to strengthen is in defence and no amount of big name attacking midfielders and strikers will help them there.

So I'm not worried about this, there is only one player City have signed since they got their little spree going who I really think we should have gotten and that is Tevez. We will strengthen in key areas and we'll still have a squad to compete at the highest level. Remember we are the benchmark in England right now.

As far as the CL is concerned, Barca and Madrid spent ridiculously last season, and look who didn't win it. Inter showed last season that if you can be smart with your buys (there weren't major bidding wars for Sneijder, Lucio or Diego Milito last summer) you can build a squad that can win Big Ears. Given they had Jose, but we have a manager who has made the final three times over the past decade and won it twice, we're still in with a good shot on both fronts.

We didn't have to beat City last year though. Not to say I'd bank on that again.

I'd have a hard time saying that the World Cup will be very draining in our squad, we didn't get anyone past the Round of 16. some of our players are old but to say they're past it isn't accurate (Drogba is past it?).

I'm sure we will make signings to improve things. I'm not convinced we need big splashes to improve the team as necessary.

BTW Lampard scored the second goal at Liverpool that basically clinched the title.

Drogba is like 32, u can't expect that kind of form for the next 3 years. There is a large chance that he will get injured next season and if we don't do something to transform the squad then wel have Anelka and Kalou heading the attack.

Yeh true none of our guys made it past the Round of 16, however pre world cup training, friendlies and playing in the tournament would definitely drain some of our players, naturally this is to be expected. However as our players are older, they need the additional rest, not getting this rest can equate to a loss of form and injuries as the season goes on. Not saying that this will be the case from the get go, however as the months role on, we may start hitting trouble during the middle - end of the year.

Im definitely not saying we should "splash the cash" around, not at all...however there is a great opportunity for us to transform our squad. With the addition of Di Maria to Real, there is a great opportunity to pick up a player like Van Der Vaart for as cheap as 5-10 mil. We could have also easily targeted Sneidjer, Robben and Adam Johnson last year and could have got them at really good prices.

What I am saying is that since Mourinho left us, we have not been too smart with our signings therefore there is a common feeling that we shuld be extra cautious when signing new players. However taking this approach means that we have been missing out on a few gems like Sneidjer last year. Our squad has been the same for around 4-5 years now and there is no direction. Its good now that we have a fixed coach and we should take advantage of this by making a future plan and giving some direction to this football club.

There are some good opportunities for us to sign some promising players such as Schweinsteiger, Ozil, Mueller, Elia, VDW who would only cost between 15-25mil each.

Also we should not be afraid to sell some of our players, since Robben left we haven't exactly sold or profited from a player. It is better selling a player, generating profit and acquiring a decent replacement than letting a declining player go on a free transfer (deco/ballack/cole etc).

If we are to sign any players still involved in the world cup, I don't expect an announcement until after it. I'm disappointed we missed out on Silva, however there are still plenty of good players playing the World Cup, so as fans we have to be patient.

Yes, he was offside, but United's goal was a blatant handball...we still would have won the game 1-0, and the league still

End like Robinho? Not gonna to happen. Robinho is moody and capricious, sometimes he behaves like a girl, and he came to City because of money. I guess Silva came to City because of money too. But he isn't kind of man like Robinho.

Talk about rewriting history. So Drogba, Anelka and Lampard are past it now, based on what exactly? Rooney had a terrible world cup, is he past it? You ignore the fact that Lampard not only scored the goals, he was also had the most assists in the premier league last season. Not bad for a player past his prime. Sorry mate but what a load of bo**ocks you just wrote.

I was gonna do a whole load of fancy quoting stuff from this bloke, but, truly, I can't be arsed. If you look back through a lot of his posts, it is ALL doom and gloom, Mr Mainwaring.

FFS, sdsdsd (lazy username by the way), try to find ONE positive thing to say, eh?

I was going to, but I don't think there is even a point.

come again?

we've just won the double... or was that my imagination? was it all a dream? am i going to wake up to find it's the late '70s and we've just been relegated again?

as for "if Drogba was called offside"... so what? you could argue the same for any number of decisions that came against us. the equaliser (at Blackburn or Bolton, i forget) that came from a foul throw. any number of blatant penalties that weren't given. the free kick awarded against Drogba (who was also booked just to add insult to literal injury) after being booted in the chest by Johnny Evans and so on and so on and so on.

as for the Champions League. i don't care. if that's your priority then go ahead and sulk because we haven't won the bloody thing yet. and i'll be happy at thet way we won the Premier League, at the record goal tally, at the way we came back to snatch the title after having seemed to have blown our chances - i'm going to go back to your "if Drogba was called offside" comment again because it's so bloody ridiculous, as if one game could ever decide an entire season, let alone a game in which we had yet another blatant penalty call that wasn't given, or in which a goal was awarded against us that was a clear handball.

tell you what, when we're fighting relegation towards the end of next season, then i'll come back and tell you you had a point.

how's that?
