Where did you use to stand?

When the players came out of the tunnel we erupted with CHELSEA, CHELSEA, CHELSEA and steamed 'em - made the mousers bolt to all corners. We were given a police escort back to the Shed end where we were royally greeted -
Ah yeh, the shed would sing "Loyal supporters" "Loyal supporters"

I used to travel up from Chichester with a gang of Lads from Bognor. They were a good crowd and they all seemed to work for the Old Lec refrigeration company which was based there.

We always headed for the Worlds End Pub to watch the lunchtime football on the old TV up on the wall. At the Ground, we mostly stood in the Middle of the Shed and it was to me absolutely brilliant to be part of such a crowd of kindred spirits on those Saturday afternoons.

The first time I sat on the benches was when West Ham came in the Shed early one Christmas in the late 70's. There were hardly any Chelsea in the Shed at the time and I just heard someone shout "Their in". All hell broke lose and I legged it with everyone else. I unfortunately ran onto the end of a punch and went down like a sack of spuds. Some Guy picked me up-I don't know who it was to this day as it all happened so fast. Then in a daze I made my way into the West stand where I spent the rest of the game. I remember the West Ham mob were then hemmed into the corner of the Shed by the police as more and more Chelsea fans arrived for the game. Eventually the Police took the West ham down and onto the pitch. As they were being escorted to the away end, they all turned and charged back at the Shed again. This time however The Shed enders came down to meet them and they failed to get back in. I remember my pride being shattered after this game for a long time. I had never seen the Shed being taken until that point at it had always seemed a safe and happy place for me to be.

I often wonder what happened to those lads I used to travel up with on those know long ago days of my late teens
My memories and feelings too about that West Ham game, all the more annoying as we'd done the same to Arsenal two days earlier and after holding the North Bank for three hours felt like giants.

I missed that Game as it was an early kick off on Boxing day and there were no trains running up from the south coast that morning. I did hitch to London with a Portsmouth Fan who was going to Gillingham but we arrived in London too late for our game. By then however, trains were running down to Kent and I went and watched the Portsmouth match with my mate which kicked off later in the afternoon

Middle of The Shed, towards the top just under the roof. Good Times. Wipes tear.

Pretty sure my old man and my Uncle stood in The Shed when they watched Chelsea back in 1960s.

Whitewall, a brief period just down from the tea-bar, then West Stand benches eventually gravitating to the North Stand where it was often more interesting.

Still have an ST in the Shed Upper but this season will be sitting MH Upper alongside one of my best mates.

Strange reading that, as far as I know there was never any needle between any groups of Chelsea south of the river. I remember Carshalton, Mitcham, Morden and Sutton mostly knowing each other and getting along.

Just realised where I know the name Hounslow Mob from, there used to be a gang of punks and skins who followed the punk band Penetration about in the late 70s, anyone know if it's the same bunch?
Not sure, but the Hounslow crew also mixed with the Northolt & Ruislip lads which included, amongst others, the Twins, Bogsy and Chris White. I used to go regularly with these boys in the late 70's early 80's.

I started out in the middle of the shed for my first season in\'73 then quickly migrated to the north stand. I loved standing at the top of the slope and watch the opposition file past. They had a worried look as they saw us, a \' those are the bar stewards that are going to kick the sh*t out of me\' look. I never actually did though, I liked watching more than the participation. Later back to the shed t bar area and then after the rebuild shed upper and occasionally MH upper.

Loftybill...When you were at the teabar area do you remember guys such as Snowy n steve ballard

Mike,

No I didn\'t know them not by name anyway, used to travel up from Basingstoke with about five other\'s.

When I was a kid I used to sit in the West Stand with My dad, When I was older I used to stand in the Whitewall, Whitewall The Whitewall of the shed.

Ahh! Happy Memories...I would stand middle of the shed. Always in front of a metal stanchion so when 'Knees up mother brown' would start i could do a knees up without giving a piggy back to a dozen lads behind!

In the Shed End, generally in the middle of the crowd behind the goal and just ahead of the overhang of the Shed if the weather was okay enough to avoid needing shelter. If it peed down I was always one of the first to move backwards!

Started off at the front of the shed by the greyhound track. Moved in about 71 to the middle of the shed, although do remember legging it round under the East stand to the North stand ( the old one ) at half time.

About 73 moved to the North stand and stayed until segregation when I moved back to the Shed.

Started in the old east stand lower69/70.season 9yrs old and bunk in under the side gate then the whitewall by the mid 70s tea bar and north stand did gate13 as well did east upper in the early 80s as the bar wos open all day lol

My first game (Everton 1975) I stood in the Shed up by the West stand. 90% of the time over the next 19 years I stood roughly in the same spot. Got to know a few around us, the Forest of Dean lads, the hippy from Birmingham, the lad from Retford who I hadn't seen for years until I met him on the tube 2 seasons back. Ventured into the Benches the odd time and the game nearest my birthday I'd "treat" myself to the East Middle! Didnt like the Prawn sarnies there though...

LOL Couldnt tell ya his name! Back then hardly knew anycnames, just faces you'd recognise as being Chelsea! Dark curly hair, always used to meet him at St Panc tube as he would come in via KingsX. Cant place anyone from Sheffield, suppose Chris from Rotherham is the nearest!

Met up with a regular traveller from Sheffield in the Black Bull after being locked out for the Sheffield Wednesday replay which we won beleive it was a Micky Thomas winner, we listened to the game on the pub radio, after the game it turned into a bit of a party with supporters cramed in and standing on tables. Cant remember what his name was though.

In the case of a lot of us on here.Where did we used to stand.......We re here we re there we re every f**king where
