Uruguay are f**k all defensively and Italy aren't that good, I think England will claw there way out of their group with Italy...a lot can happen between now and next June...we could have won the EPL the FA Cup and Champions League..

Fancy Australia's chance of getting out of that group hahaha

Balls. We'll be lucky not to finish the group with a goal difference of -10.

I don't see a reason for all the pessimism I'm reading here when it comes to England's group.

Sure it's not an easy group, but it's a group with Italy and Uruguay, not Netherlands and Spain.

Both those teams are beatable, and a draw in one or two of those might be enough.

Very exciting group, that's all.

I'm happy about my country's group as well.

Argentina are the favorites in the group, so I expect a good fight for the second spot.

Both Nigeria and Iran are beatable, so it will be exciting.

As for the winner, I really hope it's not Brazil.

I have never been able to root for the homeside in the World Cup.

I see them, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, and Argentina as the favorites.

And the winner might not be the best of those but the one that avoided some tough draws.

Well I am a USA fan and I am not looking forward to our group. I think we can beat Ghana and even do well against Portugal or Germany on a good day, we even beat Germany 4-2 this past summer in a friendly, but in a tournament situation this will be tough. Hoping for the best but expecting for the worst. The other national teams I enjoy watching (Bosnia, Cote d'Ivoire, Belgium & Colombia) all have relatively straightforward draws and I am excited to see how those nations do. Best of luck to everyone!

Group A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon

Group B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia

Group C: Colombia, Greece, Cote d'Ivoire, Japan

Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy

Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras

Group F: Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran, Nigeria

Group G: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA

Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, Korea Republic
My predictions, groups A, B and D being the toughest.

With a bit of luck we'll get to witness our boys put Suarez out of the World Cup, if we can do that i'll call it a successful world cup regardless of how badly we get thumped in the knockout stages.

As for our game against Italy in the Amazon, I did some quick reading about where our boys will be heading:

Manaus is the 11th most dangerous city in the world and last year had 945 homicides, and is a 4 hour plane ride from Rio, or a 10 day journey via car and boat (yes boat, lol). Much of the city is covered by shanty towns painted different colors to represent the different kind of drug that is sold there. Hotel reviews of places to stay in the city describe hovels infested with rats and cockroaches, while the likes of Malaria and Hepatitis are rampant issues, as are the wild stray dogs often carrying rabies.

And even better, Woy has managed to piss off their mayor who came out and said that England aren't welcome in his City, excellent, not like we needed the protection from the authorities from the drug cartels anyway.

Hopefully the fans can stay safe.

Is the Italy match already lost for f**ks sake.....Everywhere i read ..OOHHH NNOO we have to play Italy..Thats it.............These are just 11 other players who will win if we think they will..The team should go out and play them as though they were equal to anyone else....Go out to win, not draw......Surprise yourselves on how that ll help

Honestly I think Uruguay is a tougher game than Italy for England, simply because of the Attacking prowess they possess and England arguable defensive problems, Italy is always going to be a tough game but in my opinion more realistic than Uruguay,

I will be putting money on this being a draw, Italy rarely excellent in group games.

Which game is easier depends entirely on how well we play. If we play well in both matches, the majority of play will be against Uruguay's defence which consists of two centre backs who are Premiership bench warmers, and a generally modest support cast for the strikers; if we play badly then Uruguay's two truly world class players will run riot against us. Italy don't really have any players as good as Cavani/Suarez and as poor as Lugano/Coates, so whether we play badly or well doesn't matter so much as long as our defence maintains its solidity, which it will do under Hodgson/Neville.

I really think England can get through their group; beating Costa Rica should not be difficult (although it is England) and Uruguay honestly isn't that good a team. They only barely qualified after having a good run of from near the end of their campaign. I can see the England - Italy game being a dull draw.

My predictions for the knockout stages:

A: Brazil, Mexico

B: Spain, Netherlands

C: Japan, Greece/Colombia if Falcao is in hot form

D: Italy, Uruguay/England, with Cavani and Suarez thinking more Uruguay.

E: France/Switzerland

F: Argentina, Nigeria

G: Germany, Portugal

H: Belgium, Russia
A: Brazil, Mexico

B: Spain, Chile

C: Colombia, Ivory Coast

D: Uruguay, Italy

E: Switzerland, France

F: Argentina, Nigeria

G: Germany, Portugal

H: Belgium, Russia

Pretty much the same.. Got a feeling most the South American teams are gonna do well.
