Xabi Alonso - New Chelsea Manager

I think the result drives the narrative. They don't seem to put in remarkably more tackles or presses or other defensive contributions than our forwards or any others, really. They are much, much more coordinated and organised, however, and that comes from the manager too.
I don't look at result when I analyze a game. There is no point debating this as most clearly think that this is not a problem.

4 wins out of 8 and 3 losses is a poor start. If we were having possession for the sake of possession under Maresca, then under Alonso it's the other extreme and we don't have anywhere near enough possession. Absolutely dominated at home to Tottenham. It's the worst I have ever seen us at home to them.

I don't just blame him though, this era of BlueCo is a f**king joke. The players just aren't up to the required level. No aggression and so petulant in way too many games.

That 3 at the back needs to go now it doesn’t work in the PL we need bodies in midfield to press we were played off the park f**king disgusting

Got it horribly wrong today.
We’re either world beaters or non league, there’s no middle ground.
Should’ve never started Quenda, the blokes so off PL pace it’s laughable.

Mid table start to the league season.

Not good enough vs Hull, poor attitude and preperation cost us there.

Poor at Brentford and just threw in the towel once we went a goal down.

Then there is today where Quenda was basically us playing with 10 men, and neither Rogers nor Palmer could perform without JP.

Sorry but yet get beaten by Spurs you deserve all the flack you will get. His tactics and subs were awful, no criminal,, absolute disgrace and embarrassing.

Truly shocking that one of the best midfielders of the last two decades did not do anything to help Caicedo and Henderson in that midfield and bring Lavia next to them when it was clear for everybody to see that Tonali and Fernandes were running the show in the middle of the park. Hope he understands that a midfield two against a possession based side is suicidal in the PL. Joao Pedro is indispensable to this team because he does so many things by dropping close to the midfielders most of the times, but when he is not on the pitch we simply need a midfield three in order for this whole thing to work...

I'm now starting to think that it's all a bit emperor's new clothes. The only tactic is to try to force us into counter attacking by literally giving them the ball back constantly and then try to press high to nick the ball.
It's exciting when it works, but surely there has to be a bit more in the tactics handbook than just this one ploy. Fck me.

I can't look at Alonso the same way again after that performance. This really stings.

That was just an abysmal managerial performance. Once of the worst in our history. I'm at complete loss. Allowed us to get bosses at home in Midfield. No striker. Bringing on Palestra at left back. That lack of managerial petulancd bled into the players. No wonder Palmer got a red. We were already being outplayed and just frustrated.

His in-game management is f**king terrible.

Now of course I'm just some angry moron on the internet and don't know anything. I certainly would never have been clever enough to build an off-the-ball strategy around the pressing of Cole 'f**k all' Palmer and Morgan 'f**k all' Rogers. That said, when it obviously wasn't working and we were being outplayed at home against this utter catastrophe of a Tottenham side, how long was it before he made a meaningful change? Oh he switched Quenda and Neto around for a few minutes before half-time (before switching back). Bringing on Welbeck in the 89th minute at 2-0 down with ten men was sure to turn the game around.

This is the blackest of black marks on his record. I never forgave Conte after the last time we lost at home to Tottenham (which I was unfortunate enough to have attended), and he was Anthony Taylor away from winning the f**king double with David Luiz and Victor Moses in his starting XI. He's going to have to pull something pretty f**king impressive out of his arse to redeem this.

@Liam What's the Alonso equivalent of 'bald fraud c**t'? I want to shout it loudly and often. 'Hirsute Scouse c**t'?'
