Xabi Alonso - New Chelsea Manager

JP out for "a number of weeks".

Emegha is back now. So will we see the continuing of Rogers as a flase 9 or will we use one of the two strikers?

If he does the same thing against Liverpool and starts Rogers or another false 9, then he clearly hasn't learnt anything and I think we should be concerned.

While many are rightly questioned some of Alonso's decisions and game management, I also think some of challenges still stem from the quality of our squad. In most positions once you get past the first choice team, the alternatives are either not good enough or do not seem ready for the Premier League. Some of those in the latter category (e.g. Penders, Barco, Gittens, Quenda, Emegha) would perhaps have benefited from a campaign in the Europa Conference League, but I do wonder how we would manage with our current squad if we had to deal with Champions League too. Even with 1 game a week we rarely seem to have close to our full first team available.

Im torn. Not so sure he does need to change too much. Ultimately, we need to find a consistent winning formula. That will breed a winning mentality. Not so sure he will change that much, he has his systems like any of the managers in the modern game.
Actually It is hard to describe Alonso system because our football so far under xabi Alonso is very bland.

I would describe us as a side in transition but I've found it quite exciting tbh, hence my enthusiasm for the guy. Hoping things become a little more progressive over the next six months, and we do spurs at their place. REALLY dont want them doing the double over us this season.

Compared to the cut and thrust of Maresca's euthanasia of entertainment
I don't like Maresca and I am not big fan of jdp ball. But it is quite clear what the plan was both defensively and offensively.

I like Alonso because I watched his leverkusen team and his leverkusen team was very interesting. Wide rotation, interesting build up. This team on the other hand is literally 😑😑.

Offensively, I have no clue what we are doing other than long ball. Defensively the same thing, sometimes we sit back yet the opp can easily find way between the line. Sometimes we press but opp once again can break our press.

I think English is not your first language and maybe bland was a bad word choice. Bland is equivalent to boring (see Marescaball), Chelsea have been anything other than boring so far.

How he is treating Estevao is bang out of order and may well cost us an exceptionally talented player.

If he does not start giving him serious minutes over the next few games Alonso should be sacked.
I've been saying it to Chelsea mates all season. This guy is out of his depth. A 3 4 3 formation with wing backs is ludicrous. Unless the two central midfielders are at the top of their games, we're under pressure constantly once the front 3 are out of the game. The way he has treated Estevao is a disgrace!

I’m not placing this one on Alonso’s door (aside from the weird Estevao treatment)
Solely sits with Fofana this one, lost for words with that performance.
