[MKBlue]

10 of the many hundreds that could have made my list.

Midnight train to Georgia...Gladys Knight and the Pips

Going Underground...The Jam

Message to you Rudy...The Specials

Small axe...U-Roy

You make me feel so young...Frank Sinatra

Beyond the sea...Bobby Darin (my karaoke choice)

Stay free...The Clash

My brother Jake...Free

Rainy night in Soho...The Pogues

Embarrassment...Madness

and now I'm going to spend the rest of the day chastising myself for those songs I've not included, impossible to list comprehensively just 10. I could easily compile a list of artists that I've omitted, let alone picking just one of their tunes for inclusion. Ella Fitzgerald, CCR, the Stones, Beatles, Kinks, Desmond Dekker, Toots, Amy Winehouse, Sara Vaughan, Beautiful South, Arctic Monkeys, The Beat, Pink Floyd, and many, many more.....wish I'd never looked at this thread now.

Come back to it in a fortnights time with a different list, funnily enough I was going to add and then remembered I already did.

Two days of lockdown feels like two weeks, so here's another 10. Mostly female this time in order to redress the imbalance of my first lot.

Janet Kay...Silly games

Janis Joplin...Me and Bobby McGee

Carole King...You've got a friend

Amy Winehouse...Our day will come

Dinah Washington...September in the rain

Ella Fitzgerald...Making whoopee

Bobbie Gentry...Ode to Billy Joe

Dolly Parton...Cash on the barrelhead

Nora Dean...Barbwire

Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett...The lady is a tramp.

I'll be back soon with my questionable gender 10.

Impossible task to give my 10 favourites. If truth be told, it would be 10 Jam songs, but as Erskblue suggested, list 10 by different artists so this week it would be:

Rod Stewart       Maggie May

The Redskins     The Power is Yours

The Kinks             Waterloo Sunset

The Small Faces    What’Cha Gonna Do About It

The Tams             Hey Girl Don’t Bother Me

Paul Weller         Wild Wood

Arctic Monkeys  A Certain Romance

The Chiffons      Sweet Talkin’ Guy

The Jam               Down in the Tubestation (At Midnight) (Will ALWAYS be my Desert Island Disc)
