The other semi final between Burkina Faso & Ghana was a cracker. Probably the worst pitch I've ever seen, it was even worse than the bridge a few years back. I think they had just put cut grass on top of some sand and sprayed some green paint on it. Poor quality of football but an exciting match. Ghana were the better team in 90 minutes but Burkina Faso dominated extra time and should have won it during the 30 minutes. Bance should have score a hat trick in extra time. The first penalty in the shootout is one of the worst penalties I've ever seen.

I fancy Nigeria to win the final. They've looked the better team in the last couple of games and Burkina Faso have had 2 games go to extra time

Moses was a doubt for the final due to injury but it seems he's brushed it off. Him and Mikel both start for Nigeria.

Mikel is going to score a cracker tonight. Believe.

If Nigeria win tonight Mikel really has nothing else to win and he is 25 or 26. We give him stick but he is a winner. Hope Nigeria wins tonight.

Nigeria are champions!

John Obi Mikel: champion of two continents

Mikel and Moses Champions of Africa! Good job. Now, come home and save Chelsea...

What a boring competition.

Congratulations to Moses and Mikel though.

I can think of a certain competition held every 4 years that African teams have yet to win...

Very happy for the 3 Chelsea boys on Nigeria, hope all three of them can carry on the momentum when they return to their clubs.

Ha ha. Realistic trophies...he really has them all. One goal he does have though. A goal. 😀

Eurosport rated the team of the tournament:

Midfielders

John Obi Mikel (Nigeria): The Chelsea man was imperious throughout and should have been crowned the tournament's best player. He has been a full fixture in Nigeria's side since 2006 but failed to live up to his potential until now. His command of the midfield, strength in holding onto the ball, disrupting opponents and driving the team forward laid the platform for his team's victory and re-established his credentials as one of Africa's best.

Victor Moses (Nigeria): Just a year on from his debut for Nigeria, the former England under-21 international is now an African champion. Despite battling injury throughout the tournament, Moses scored twice against Ethiopia in the last group game to ensure Nigeria's progress, and in the semi-final against Mali the winger tormented the opposing defence.

Both of our boys in the team...great job lads!!

Happy for Mikel and Moses, couldn't give a damn about most of the rest of the competition though.
