Difference being Telles can actually run, Alonso with the ability to sprint would actually be fantastic for us funnily enough. He is literally just a Brazilian Marcos Alonso, which is fine as I like Alonso but I would have thought we would be looking for a left back that's a bit more defensively solid.
No way should we pay £40m for him, Porto are just trying to save face after their recent transfer mess ups. A player like Telles is worth £30m max, with his current contract situation an offer of £20m would be more reasonable.
On current form I agree but earlier this season statistically he was the best LB in the league and a key component of Leicester's early season form. Chilwell at LB, Gilmour, Kova and Lewis Cook pulling the strings in midfield I think we'd have a genuine shot at the title, imho.Chilwell is massively overrated. Plenty of Leicester fans don't think he should even be in their starting eleven. Best thing that could happen for us is for City to buy him and save us wasting more money at left back.
Lewis Cook ?On current form I agree but earlier this season statistically he was the best LB in the league and a key component of Leicester's early season form. Chilwell at LB, Gilmour, Kova and Lewis Cook pulling the strings in midfield I think we'd have a genuine shot at the title, imho.
He’s been on about Cook for a couple years now. Best to ignore the troll.Lewis Cook ?
The guy with zero goals or assists as a midfielder this season and a healthy 6.32 average on Whoscored ?
LOL.
Very good !
And lots of people won't understand the unique role he plays which makes him immune from criticism.A Brazilian with Italian ancestry and passport? I'm guessing he points a lot.
You don't think he played well against us the other week then? Never said he's world class, just good enough to be a decent squad option (we've apparently scouted him).Lewis Cook ?

For me this is just the point. He is regarded by Leicester fans as frustratingly inconsistent. When you watch him he seems to randomly lose concentration and get caught out. Sound familiar? We shouldn't spend 60m on a left back who is essentially the British Emerson. On current form I agree but earlier this season statistically he was the best LB in the league and a key component of Leicester's early season form. He has to have more pace than both Alonso and Emerson though, surely?More links to us again over the past few days. Not much else to do so I've been watching his matches in the Europa League this season.
Few things stand out:
1. Crossing is superb. Particularly from set pieces, he is super accurate. Good flat and fast delivery
2. Defensively he is quite aware. Porto are pretty compact without the ball which helps.
3. One thing that surprised me watching him more is that he doesnt seem the quickest. Not slow but not what I you usually expect from a Brazilian fullback.
Pep would improve him tho or at least tweak his system to accomodate his characteristics. Even if he doesn't perform, they'd just buy another upcomerFor me this is just the point. Probably not as slow as Alonso or Jorginho but he isn't quick. I noticed a few times him attempt to close quickly on someone to press and just not get there in time with the ball then played around him.He has to have more pace than both Alonso and Emerson though, surely?
That’s very interesting and good to know. I haven’t seen a huge number of his games but was always under the impression that he was quite pacey. Perhaps he has lost a step or two.Probably not as slow as Alonso or Jorginho but he isn't quick. His delivery is so good that you'd almost forgive it, but he is by now means a perfect left back solution in our way of playing.
