Disagree with this. We saw what a difference it was even between Tbo and Willy. If we had Scott Carson in net i'm sure the gulf would be rather large. 

 
I have not watched Alisson too extensively apart from the WC, where he did not do anything spectacular. He prob is a top keeper but I think spending over £60m on a keeper is ridiculous. Schmeichel for instance might not be as good as Alisson but he is a very good keeper and I don't think it is worth paying an extra £30-40m on a keeper who is not miles better than another keeper you can got a lot less for. I would rather get Schmeichel at around £20m or so than pay a fortune on a keeper. The money can be spent elsewhere on the squad imo.

 
Schmeichel  is also six years older.  We may get a couple of good years out of him and then we'll be looking again.  Better to spend 60m on 25 year than 30m on a 31 year and have to then shell out another 30-40m in a couple of years time.  I know keepers can play well into their 30's but in 6 years time you can either have a 37 year old Schmeichel  or a 31 year old Alisson who could potentially be the best in the world at that point.

Not nearly as large compared to having Scott Brown controlling the middle of the field, Begovic was the worst keeper in the league statistically  last season, did a decent job for us 

 
Liverpool are now favourites with the bookies to sign him, overtaking us.

 
Apparently Liverpool have table 70m Euros for him, basically what Roma wanted. If Alisson goes to Liverpool what other options do we have?

Bar keeping Tibo? I'm not so sure.

Not many quality keepers going right now. If we did sell Tibo then maybe get Navas in return? I'm not a huge fan of him personally but it will be slim pickings

 
I'd prefer Pickford to Alisson. Comfortable with the ball at his feet and proven time after time he's a great shot stopper. Add to the fact he's English would make a great signing. Doubt we're looking at him though. 

 
Gianluigi Donnarumma is the only other keeper I've seen us linked with. 

Hopefully Courtois signs a new contract. 

 
Pickford seems flavour of the month I think because of the World Cup. He was admittedly very good but Tibo was better and the award shows this.

I recall Everton fans being underwhelmed last season with his performances at time so I have no idea if it was just a great tournament for him or if he can keep that level up consistently enough for a team chasing silverware.

In any case because he is at Everton (who are wealthy), English and off the back of a good World Cup so you would be talking silly money over the £50 million marker and maybe more if he is on a long term contract.

I seem to remember Pickford being criticised for his performances at the beginning of the the season. 

I think like with Harry Maguire the World Cup has got people hyping him a lot but personally I'm sure he's good enough for us. 

The height thing does concern me, I'm not sure how well he can command his area. Courtois just plucks crosses out of the air but Pickford's going to struggle rising above people the same way. 

Good shot stopper but not sure he's much more than that. 

The new fad of sweeper/keeper is lost on me, really don't think you need your keeper having the ball at his feet very often and some times there isn't anything wrong with just clearing your lines. 

 
New flavour of the week @ForeverCarefree.  Always happens.  Some player or other doesn't f**k up too badly for most of the time, and, in this case, makes a couple of Hollywood saves and suddenly he's world class, particularly if he's English.  Most people forget that he was distinctly average last season, and got to play in the World Cup as the best of an average bunch. 

Same with the way over-the-top comments about Maguire.  Mid-table defender, managed to score from a corner and suddenly is the re-incarnation of prime Beckenbauer.

So, I expect we'll be buying both, and paying way over the odds for them as well.

 
Tbf any capable goalkeeper should be able to take a touch and lay an easy short ball off to the full back / centre back. 

 
Missing out on Alisson would be a big blow if Courtois leaves aswell. 

It will leaves us downgraded in the goalkeeper position. 

Hopefully Courtois signs an extension.
