Andre Onana

He looked a GK to be, better than the ones we got. So a deal involving Lukaku going the other way, surely Inter will take the deal, right?🤫

Lol yeah if we can swap Lukaku for him then I say welcome Onana. Inter cannot be that stupid, Rom screwed them last night.

I was extremely impressed with him to be honest, looks a level above our current keepers for sure.
He was fine. Nothing he could do about the goal. Two defenders directly in line with Rodri who bent the ball around them. He wouldn't have seen the pill till the last second. In fact, I thought Ederson looked shakier.

Really? I was very impressed with this ability on the ball, he beat City's press multiple times.
The thing with this sort of stuff is that it is a bit of a confidence thing.. when mendy started out he looked average with his feet, great at commanding the box and short stopping.. as his form dropped his weakness got amplified..

Onana also makes mistakes and he seems a character.. wasn’t he banned for 6-7 months?

I like my footballers old school like Kante silva who are never in the news.. I would rather we try to rekindle mendy than spend obscenely on another keeper.. we seem to be finally getting a new manager after a fraud and a manager out of his depth..

There is no keeper in world football who is more confident and unbothered than Onana

his technique is brilliant

he is up there with Ederson as the best footballing goalkeeper. And i think Onana is a better shot stopper than Ederson. His reflexes are absolutely insane + he is a bit of a character who is aggressive and confrontational in a good way

the only downside is that he isn't very tall but he makes up for that with his insane speed and agility

and what you will see is that he will overplay sometimes which will result in some mistakes at times, but that's expected when you want your goalkeeper to play out from the back

i would definitely love to see him at Chelsea

he speaks French, English and Spanish (having come from the Barcelona academy) and probably a bit of italian by now

he fits the profile perfectly. He can play a couple of years and then Slonina can be brought to compete with him

this is what i mean when he is a bit too confident, but in a lot of those clips he was still young in his first years as a first team goalkeeper

his personality

sorry for the multiple posts

i just thought that maybe if some of you wouldn't be convinced i would show you this and maybe you would change your mind

Isn't he the one who got banned for drug test failure the other year?

Yup. 12 months. Said he took one of his wife's tablets my mistake. A diuretic, not banned per se, but can be used as a masking agent.

Tinfoil hat on.  Aren’t most top athletes taking something now a days.  Remember the rumours of the Liverpool team a couple of years ago, or Lance Armstrongs Dr saying he had footballers, tennis players, and boxers as clients?  The money in performance enhancing drugs and drugs to mask is massive, yet the money to detect drug cheats is miniscule. The cheats are always 2 steps ahead.
The tiny punishments for this used to really bug me but now I don’t really care anymore. It’s like it’s a well known secret in the sports world and no one really cares anyway.

Chelsea 'agree' personal terms with £52m star Mauricio Pochettino loves ahead of crucial talks

📌Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana ahead of this UEFA Champions League final yesterday. #CFC

More talk to follow on club side

He punted it out of play through misplaced passes at least twice, and also caused a chance to city due to him passing it to a city player. That's at least 3 mistakes with the ball at his feet in a single game.

52mill for a player that moved to Inter on a free last summer?

106mill for a player that cost Benfica 10mill 6 months prior.

Really hope we sort our scouting department and decision making process out with Pochettino at the helm.
Inter absolutely deserve their profit. It's not as if Onana was a completely unknown player before his ban. He had done well at his previous club. We've known for more than a year now that Mendy is a decent but not an elite GK and we could've easily signed Onana instead of Inter. If you want the established players then you will have to pay the premium price. Scouting doesn't matter unless you're ready to take the risk which we're not.

Santos, Paez, Casadei, Chucky, Slonina all going to be those type of players who are going to be worth so much more than what we paid for them

in fact you could argue that since we signed them they already have appreciated in value

Paez is now part of the senior Ecuador squad at 16, Santos was called up for the Brazil national team, Casadei can become world champion tonight with 7 goals in 6 games and catching the eye of Mancini.

i would love to see some deals for a couple of million who turn out to be world beaters but i think when Chelsea come knocking they mark up the price. That's why i think it's smart to get a club in the Portugese league. We scout players who currently are at that level with potential to improve. If then they don't improve they have been a good player for the Portugese club and it's not a total waste.

If wou want to compete at the highest level you can't really gamble with a young inexperienced goalkeeper

Unless you are willing to go for mid table again
