Another Winger! - Noni Madueke

Starting 11 questionable but squad wise they don’t have decent cover for Saka who by virtue of that is overplayed and that fact was one of reason he was out injured for so long. On their forums opposite flank I actually think he offers a far better option to Martenelli

They did. Nwaneri.

I don't see any angle where Noni strengthens them. If he's cover for Saka, they are already substantially weaker then. If he's a better option than Martinelli (something I very much don't agree with) than they are replacing one frustrating player with another one.

They are essentially spending upwards of £50m to replace Sterling.

If this was a deal being made by Chelsea the majority of fans would be furious..

Noni's been decent. He's totally replacable and easily too. He's in the bottom half of PL wingers if I'm being honest.

Nwaneri wants to play in midfield.

Outside of the Wolves game he hasn’t done anything I can remember.

I remember when I used to say he’s selfish and think he’s “that player “ without achieving anything I used to get jumped on. He has proven to be an okay player nothing more and if we can get a good fee for him let him go.

Fact he’s already agreed personal terms with Arsenal shows what Poch and Maresca has said about his attitude.

He will fall out with Arteta within six months!!

You don't think he's a better option than the outbound Sterling or Trossard? Far more impact than either.

Nwaneri wants to play in midfield.

No.

Trossard I'd rate slightly higher given his versatility across the frontline and his ability to create chances. End of the day, these are players no top club wants starting for them and there is little to no disparity between the two in quality.

Nwaneri came on for both Odegaard & Saka last season, and with Odegaard making it a habit of shying away in games and Saka's injury concerns it would make much more sense to have Nwaneri the first name to come on for either them.

My cousin is an Arsenal ST holder . I am not sure that his view is necessarily the same as all their supporters but he believes Martinellis form has regressed although the stats don’t quite show that.

As we saw last season Arsenal squad was way too small indeed they ended up playing a defender at CF.

Nwaneri is a major issue at Arsenal as he is refusing to sign the deal that he has been offered. In April it was thought that it was a slam dunk he would sign but here we are in July and no news on that .As an aside he has only ever played 90 minutes as a RW on one occasion in the PL.

Martinelli can not play anywhere save wide on the left. If he aims toward the bye line he looks decent but other than that I am far from taken with what he brings to the party.

Another thing that may be an issue is that there are rumours that he wants a new deal. Since he signed his last one Arsenal have given significant rises to several players , rises that see him no longer in the top 5 earners there. He’s on a decent wedge said to be £180k a week add all that to the rumour that Arsenal have had a very decent offer from a Saudi team for him then from their perspective it might just be an offer they can’t refuse.

Noni is tied into a long term deal at Chelsea with a wage said to be circa £50k a week. His current book value is around £20 million .

It's funny really, 2 years ago when we signed him, a majority of us questioned it and some even hated it. Noni was a crock that had injury issues all over

Fast forward 2 years, I really am glad we are letting him go for 50-60M.

Trossard is dog sh*t on the wing, he's filled in well up top when needed but Madueke is so clear behind the striker. Madueke had 16 G/A in 40 games on the wing last season, Trossard managed 10 G/A in 35 games. Add age in to the equation and not only is he better now the upside is there for the future. If Saka has another 3 months to miss its not a debate between the two and Arsenal clearly agree.

Once again, Nwaneri wants to play midfield. Hence why he might be looking to move if he keeps getting thrown onto the wing.

The age thing is a major issue you are right . Trossard will be 31 in December.Noni is 23.

I know we are talking about humans and yes it’s a ruthless old business is football but Noni is now two and a half years into his deal from his perspective he will know what he will be paid for the 4 1/2 years and indeed he was no doubt was very happy to sign a long term deal on as I said earlier a rumoured wage of £50k a week which for a full blown English international is now nowhere close to top dollar. If Arsenal come along and offer say offer £100k over 5 years he will be better off by a country mile and will be very tempted

Time goes quickly and many of the players bought in initially are starting to get below 5 years left on their contracts . My point here is that the wages for many were said to be low but being tied to those long term deals isn’t so much a concern.

The wage 'issue' with our squad could rise its head when we go on and players are in 3-4th year in their contracts. We have slashed the wage bills and other top clubs could lure our best players with doubling the salaries.. anyway that is a known risk of this strategy.

The hope is the young lads get the taste of winning and connect that with performance incentives.

I've cast my expert scouting eye over his youtube highlights and this is going to be a massive flop.

He looks slow, somewhat clumsy, and what he does in the Dutch league isn't going to work in the PL.

Been 2 years and I don't think my initial assessment was far off. Slightly better than I expected, but still very average and doesn't stand out in any positive ways.

If he goes to Arsenal and becomes the next Saka, sobeit. We can't hold onto every underperforming player on the off chance they became amazing at some distant point in the future.

I'm not really bothered by the trivial details on which player is better when there is little disparity of quality between them, and at the end of the day it's a squad player replacing a squad player. Take into account the money being touted is upwards to £50m, I don't see anything suggesting this strengthens Arsenal. The only thing I see atm is that it's a very expensive Sterling replacement.

Take away the Wolves match Noni has 4 goals in the league, has 0 G/A when playing on the left, and this is predominantly from him being our first choice winger. This isn't strengthening. Age is a factor but i'm not alone in saying I haven't seen anything from Noni to suggest he will improve his output. It's a 10 G/A winger replacing another 10 G/A winger and with the money involved you can only laugh.

Nwaneri is essentially the first name to sub or rotate with both Odegaard and Saka. A first team regular at 18 years old for his boyhood club and I am supposed to believe he'll leave because he wants to only play CAM? In the same sentence he said he's happy to play anywhere in the Arsenal first team where he can have an impact and he already has when playing at RW. This is a money issue I reckon given he was one of the most played 18 year olds in the league.

Every team including Arsenal plan to strengthen in the summer so they’re inevitably gonna buy someone. So why not a guy who most think is inconsistent and not good enough rather than a player like Rodrygo who instantly improves them or a young player like Fofana who may turn out to be a star?

Noni ain’t a player to win us the league and he ain’t gonna do that for Arsenal either. Like Havertz and Kepa before him I’m not bothered about losing them to Arsenal or anybody else.

I didn’t particularly want him to go but his numbers are underwhelming. He is a useful squad player but you can definitely upgrade him.

You’d be hard pushed to say that about Cucrella, James, Palmer, Enzo etc. that’s where we should be aiming.

Noni has developed but not enough unfortunately.

So your argument in hypothetical scenarios. The Wolves match happened and he has 16 G/A in 40 games on the wing. He's an upgrade on Trossard and Sterling, offers Martinelli competition and can play on either side.

Noni is a great impact sub just like he proved against palmerias . He is a goal threat and adds physicality.

If we sell to Arsenal then he must cost more than gittens because Noni is in the England squad and Gittens isnt

Just be thankful they’re only upgrading with go faster stripes and not a stage 4 turbo.

Neto higher ceiling? That is a new one. Isn’t he already 25yrs, been playing top level football since 19yrs, and probably close to his ceiling.

This whole narrative he is our best winger is funny; his best league season ever was 5yrs when he was 20yrs (5G + 6A). How he ended up here is actually strange because 2 seasons ago he went a whole season with Zero goals & Zero assists.

Fair enough but his earlier career was blighted by injury.

In the last few months he’s been far and away our best winger and is beginning to add goals. He’s better at finishing than Noni.

Listen, I don’t dislike Noni but I just don’t see him improving quickly enough. I honestly believe Neto is a better option than Noni on either wing.
