Capello Quits!

This is the kind of crap that stops me following England. If the FA had any balls, they'd Blackball The Sun for this kind of stuff. No doubt in the weeks before the tournament the paper will be airing all sorts of nausea inducing patriotic adverts.

It wouldn't be so bad if there weren't so many people who blindly think whatever these papers want them to think.

I am getting sick and tired of hearing how strong the FA have been over the Capello business, Bernstein in particular is getting a lot of praise for "having the balls" to stand up to him over the JT captaincy.

I find it ironic that the FA has pandered to the media (which is in the process of being discredited by the Leveson inquiry) it also appears to take its cue from a bunch of halfwits on social networking sites, and yet is being lauded as tough, for excepting someones resignation on a point of principle.

Capello is welcome at Northern Ireland if he wants the job

I have nothing but respect for the man, he did what every person in his position should do.

Do you know what, I was just thinking today Fabio is really in it with JT. If any one in football is vilalfied more then JT its fabio. I thought it was disgusting what the papers did to him, the depictions and caracuters. I think i read one head line after spuds came back from 2 down to beat arsenral that reffered to redknapp as a winner everything Fabio wasnt.

Cappelo is currently in my eyes the best manager I have ever seen. He walks in to clubs effortlesly wins the title and then moves on, Milan, Juve, Roma, Real. titles with all of them.

England are a limited team with limited players. For me the quarter finals of a tornament was kind of the most i have expected. I think he has done well since the world cup and expected a decent run with out expecting to much in the euros.

He never stepped away because of the press. He did it when they told him he couldnt pick his captian. So he packed up his tent, stuck a finger up at the FA and walked of.

Well done Fabio. Enjoy your summer holls. And take extra glee when england fail
Great post. My thoughts exactly.

We also have gotten to this point where the FA are having to release statements like this to placate the media:-
This is the mess that the FA have created for themselves with their bungling.

When talking about the kind of England captain he wants, FA Chairtman David Bernstein pointed to the statue of Bobby Moore. Someone immediately observed that Bobby Moore was under indictment for theft when he played in the 1970 World Cup.

He was cleared, of course. As John Terry may eventually be.

Yes, he was cleared. AND.. the British press did not constantly vilify him while he was awaiting trial.

Yes, but JT is a chav from Barking, whereas Bobby Moore came from, er.....Barking.

It's going to be quite amusing when England crash out.

I've not had an interest since France 98, we had some proper fighting, hard working players back then, even the

likes of Keown and Tony Adams were alright with me.

Since I start following this sport when I was in London during WC06, I used to be a bigger fan of England than USA. However, the years of booing Chelsea players and the awful levels the media has stooped to made me turn my back on them before WC10. I still like seeing the CFC boys score goals and play well, but I couldn't care less if England doesn't make it past the group stages this summer.

You would never see the US national team treated like this.....because 99% of this country doesn't give a rat's ass about the sport. :)

Also a US national team at any of the proper American sports would just sh*t on anyone. Baseball, basketball, American football etc.

Maybe the Canadians or Russians could give you a game at ice hockey.

Try routinely beat

The media overload of the post-Capello era is just ridiculous. I was watching Mike Bassett yesterday, and it just seems more like a documentary the longer the FA mess around with things. How long will it be before no one actually wants the job, and they need to recruit from the lower leagues to get someone to manage the country.

It's be much more likely that they appoint a member of the FA board to run the team.

All the expected "Redknapp is the only candidate" guff on Football Focus

I truly don't understand how a manager, whose sole achievement is one FA Cup win (whilst collecting a bonus greater than any money the club earned from winning it), is deemed to be the outstanding candidate.
