Carney Chukwuemeka

He’s far behind Palmer, Nkunku & Felix in the current lineup and with the additions of Paez/Estevao next season in attacking areas he’s only going to drop down further.
A sale to Serie A would do him the world of good which is a shame as he showed some real flashes before the injury last season.

Thought he was poor tonight unfortunately. Pitch was akin to a frozen Hackney Marshes which must have affected them all, but whilst he saw loads and loads of ball, just seemed to want to overplay and come up with the cute one twos rather than keeping it simple. Little if any end product sadly. Shame because i really do rate him.
Hasn't played for an eternity. Flown half way round the world to play a match in Chinese Iceland.

Anyone who uses this as an excuse to say he isn't good enough to make it with us, is an idiot.

Loving everyone who thinks Paez and Esteveo are gonna waltz into the EPL next season and own it like a boss. Yeah, right. Because the EPL is a doddle and that always happens, yes? Let's just hope we haven't got our own version of Antony. Our maybe two Antonys.

Not a chance! For one we haven’t paid a ridiculous fee, and they aren’t both on ridiculous wages. Both players are cream of the crop in their age group, and the only way they don’t make it is if we mismanage them.

As for Chukwuemeka; personally rate him highly but something just seems off. He has been here for 2 seasons and played less than 1000 minutes in all competitions. I would have thought he would have pushed for a permanent move away in the summer, with the influx of new players but that never happened. Wasn’t he even on the cusp of being called up for the English national team at some point but he got injured.

I think he’s a fantastic player with huge potential, I’m really disappointed he barely played this season. You would have thought he would suit Maresca’s football big time. He would be the perfect back up for Cole Palmer imo.

I’m hoping we loan him out rather than sell him, so he can show how good he is.

One report has stated we have set a price of 40-45mill, all in, on Carney.
Zero chance. We would be lucky to get £20m. We paid £15m at 19yrs old in 2022 based on his potential, 2 years later and a remarkable 224 league mins (600mins all comps) we somehow value him at £40m.

His talent has been evident whenever he's played. The lack of minutes has been down to injury.

He's played a similar amount of minutes at senior football as Cole Palmer had when we threw £45m at him.

Move the lad on for the fee we paid for him. He needs football to develop and he isnt getting it with us, sadly. Anything else should be viewed as the club holding his career hostage.

I still hope we loan him rather than sell him.

If we do sell him, then I hope we have a buy back option clause inserted.

The whole point of him joining us was he didn't want to go on loan, he wanted to play. I'm not sure who advised him to leave Villa, a team he would most likely be featuring regularly in by now, and join us though. Maybe didn't have much of a choice mind due to both clubs FFP's issues.

This was well before we came into any PSR/FFP troubles given he was among the first signings in the Clearlake era.

Much like the same trouble we have in keeping our youth players, once an agent gets in their ear its beyond our control.

The only time he has been out this season is because he was out will illness and missed one game. I think you keep forgetting Palmer scored in the Community Shield for City, and in the Super Cup prior to his move. The calibre of clubs that would come in for him won’t pay £45m.

I am not convinced he wants to leave. We bumped his wages from £15k/w to £100k/w, and still has 4 1/2yrs to go. He just has to turn up for training and stay in shape. Easiest gig ever.

Its very obvious that he's not playing at the request of the directors over actual ability though. Palmer was as much as an unknown as Chuk would be. Newcastle rumoured to be happy to let Tonali go. Following the success they've had with Hall and Livramento and the fees paid for them with minimal exposure in the league its certainly not as wild as you make out.

Forest paid 40M for Elliott Anderson FFS.

Anyone who thinks he’s only worth £20 million needs their head read.

He will go for over £40 including add ons of around 8 million I reckon.

Our squad being the size it is means all of our out of favour players will be on lots of clubs radar.

No one is saying that is worth though, it’s how much the market is willing to pay for him. If he was getting PL mins here and there, no questions we will get £40m+. As things stand he is surplus to demand. Another thing to be considered is most of the big money deals happen within the PL, because PL clubs are flush with cash.
£40m is also a huge fee in the present market, I am not sure there were up to 15 deals above that deal in the summer window in/out of the PL.

Maresca mentioning him and Chilwell confirms the obvious the me, the club are looking to move them on in January.

Bit of a strange one. No idea why he's been frozen out as he's always looked quality to me. Maresca clearly doesn't share that opinion though.

Ben Jacob’s update:

“Carney Chukwuemeka is available for a January exit, but Chelsea are not considering a cut-price sale. It means a permanent transfer will require Chukwuemeka’s £40m release clause to be paid.

#CFC paid Aston Villa £20m and believe Chukwuemeka, despite limited opportunities, has big potential. That’s why if they are to sell rather than loan they except double what they paid.”
