Great win, but Gala were dire.

Hazard jogged past their defense, Willian nicked the ball off them countless times and poor Drogba couldn't even receive a pass from his team mates.

Ramires...sigh. He can run. But I can't really see what else he does. He can't pass and is reckless. But he does drive forward and had a good first half.

f**k it. We're in the last eight, in the mix with:

Real Madrid

Barcelona

PSG

Bayern Munich

Atletico Madrid

Dortmund (I think they'll beat Zenit)

Olympiakos (Let's face it, United don't have a chance tomorrow)

*Gulp*

I say bring it on. You can't call yourself the best unless you mix with the best. I relish these big cup ties. Shows us an accurate picture of where we are as a team. I'm happy we've even reached the quarter finals of Europe's biggest competition. That is an achievement no matter how you spin it.

Job done comfortably with minimal effort in what was a potentially tricky match. All it needed was for Drogba or Sneijder to have a decent chance and it could have got less comfortable. Fortunately, we never let them have one. Onto the quarters.

Ramires played a massive part tonight, especially in the 2nd half, of helping us win the ball back early and preventing Gala from ever having any meaningful possession. With a Lampard - Mikel midfield (which it would have been without Ramires) we would have struggled to win the ball before it got right down near our box.

Right now while Ramires's passing has been a bit sh*t, and excluding a Luiz-Matic partnership, without him we are just too immobile in midfield, plus Mikel is just generally sh*t and is certainly no alternative to him.

All I have to say is who's next? Barca? Borussia? Olympiakos? PSG? Show us what you got. Bring it on, bitches. :Connie_threaten: :violent090: :sumo:

Looking forward to the draw on Friday. Anybody know what time it'll take place or if its going to be televised?

I felt it was written in the stars that we would get Galatasary for 16 and now I'm feeling it's only a matter of time before we get Real Madrid .

Out of all the teams left I fear Real the most . We have beaten Barca recently when they were a far more threatening outfit than they are now, we beat Bayern in the UCL final and should of beaten them in August as well .

Sooner or later we will be up against it regardless but a nice tie before the semi's would be ideal .

No matter who comes next (olympiacos). They are all tough teams (apart from olympiacos). There is no kind draw here (if we don't get olympiacos). Lets hope a good draw (olympiacos).

Must admit, Real Madrid do have an outstanding team. The aggregate score against Schalke was insane. Though, we must face quality opposition to improve the team. Without your Cristiano Ronaldos, Gareth Bales and Karim Benzemas revealing all the weaknesses, you cannot improve.

Even though Olympiacos would be the dream tie for us, it'll do the team a lot of good to go against the top teams in the tournament. Would also gain the club more respect if we won it too.

I hope next seasons kits have two gold stars above the badge and feature gold Premier League patches after a hard fought double. The season review DVD alone would be one to treasure.

We need a draw that reflects our squad's strength, i.e. a weaker side. The likes of Barca, PSG, Bayern and both Madrids all have top strikers and strong offensive capablities, whereas we are still quite weakened in that area. After seeing how wasteful we were with our possession in counter attack, I do worry that it will be even tougher for us against one of those aforementioned teams.

Great win, superb first half performances and because Gala were so poor it meant we didn't need to play at such a high tempo in the second half.

Lampard played very well in the middle considering he's been out of the team for a couple of weeks now and hopefully he carries that form into the Arsenal game.

Ramires didn't have the best of games, tossing away possession with worrying regularity, perhaps the 3 game suspension will do him some good?

Eto'o scoring at home again, who'd have thought? Clearly he is the best option up front now but he does seem to run out of steam around the 70th minute so I think Ba/Torres will be needing to replace him as games are in the later stages.

I'm still not happy with our decision making around the opposition area though, we could have easily scored more last night but for poor decisions.

You had an occasion in the first with Hazard getting to the byline and Eto'o come short rather than attack the near post which killed the move.

You had Willian getting into wide positions and just passing it back.

You had Torres shooting from a tight angle rather than playing a simple square ball for Schurrle to tap in.

Ramires was through the middle and took a poor shot on from 20 yards out rather than playing it simple to Schurrle on his right who had much more time and space.

That's the ones I can think of off the top of my head... We aren't smart enough, ruthless enough in around the opposition area and that's something I want to see us improve on.

A most enjoyable win and a nice cozy night...Loved Drogba hitting his banner with the ball...I didn't even  feel like putting my foot through the Telly whenever Chiles came into view....

Job done, bring on Real Madrid...gulp

Its like the manager says Chelsea welcome any team and fear none

Its peculiar that when the team loses 1 out of 15 in the prem a lot of peeps have a meltdown even though team still top of the prem

Also when Galatassary are comprehensively outclassed its not beacuse Chelsea played well its because they (gala) were pants and

even then Chelsea should have scored 20 goals..........what kind of supporters do you all wanna be - spoilt twats or grateful that the team is back on the map with a great manager, rich owner and lots of chances at trophies this season and in the future ?

In 2011 I made the mistake of selling the team short, I never thought they'd beat Barca in the semis and then Bayern at the Allianz

was a bridge too far, we all know the outcome and minus Drogba currently we have a better team and manager (no disrepect to RDM who is a CL winner just like Jose)

So peeps believe , CFC can go all the way.

Not sure if it ha been mentioned but did anyone else think that the chant the Gala fans had with the whistling was f**king hilarious? Couldn't quite put my finger on what about it tickled me so much but it really did amuse me.

Credit where credit is due I thought the Gala fans were one of the loudest and generally best sets of fans I have seen at the Bridge in recent years, the bouncy they did was quality.

And, in turn, it gets the best out of our fans as well- the West and East lower stands both responding to the request from the MHL to 'give us a song' and both managed to get a rendition of carefree going in addition to all four stands joining in the same songs for a nice change. Whatever next, a bouncy from the West upper??

well well..What joy last night gave me...Not only did we play some good fluent footy, but the fans were outstanding..We all knew the philistines would make noise..I actually thought..Here we go..Tasary fans noise all over the Bridge embarassing us again..NO..Chelsea fans were great .Noisiest ive heard for some time..Well done team and fans..One club ..ONE UNITY

I don't think that is the case at all, Ramires has been bad for some time now, of course people are going to notice it and talk about it. He was really poor tonight when everyone else looked pretty good. I have never really rated Ramires that highly anyway. Apart from having amazing energy levels i don't really see what he offers us. He doesn't even really track back well these day, when he does track back he tends to foul players.

I don't think it is a form thing, i just don't think he is reallly all that good.
agree 100%. Said it many times before. We'll see once we get someone else in CM what the difference is.

Agreed, Olympiacos would be the ideal tie, I'd fancy us in over two legs against Barcelona or Dortmund as well.. Real Madrid, Bayern & Atletico Madrid will take some beating...

Never say never, we've got the main man in Mourinho to do so.. I players are more than capable of reaching the final again... I fear for other teams when we get a decent striker next season, although Eto'o had a blinder last night, but a top forward banging in 25-30 a season.. It's inevitable! We'd be unstoppable!
