I'd put Kakuta and Matic in from the start. If we lose no harm done its pretty meaningless if we win with a few kids in that would really get the mancs on about how Fergies past it and the board should have spent big. Nothing like instability at the start of the season

I think the winner of the Shield has won the league each of the last three years. Coincidence?

Of course.
Coincidence? Of course!

Charity Shield Premier League

1992 Leeds Man U

1994 Man U Blackburn

1995 Everton Man U

1997 Man U Arsenal

1998 Arsenal Man U

1999 Arsenal Man U

2000 Chelsea Man U

2001 Liverpool Arsenal

2002 Arsenal Man U

2003 Man U Arsenal

2004 Arsenal Chelsea

2006 Liverpool Man U

Glad you posted that Randy, I can remember a few years ago people saying winning this is a curse as the winners rarely win the league.

Seems a bit like Carlo is planning a JT/Ivanovic partnership this season. Otherwise he would surely prefer Carvahlo to PF and move Ivan to RB.

you may all disagree but thi is a huge game to kick start our season after such a poor pre season i feel this is a must win. for confidence more then anything else

i wouldn't exactly call it a must win. sure it's always nice to beat Man U, but the Charity Shield won't kick start our season: a win against West Brom will do that very nicely. those pre-season friendlies weren't confidence builders, they were fitness builders, and due to a variety of circumstances, tomorrow's game also falls into that category.

Theres an interesting thread over on Redcafe, It starts with Ramires interest but quickly goes on to the relative strengths of each midfield. Many rating Fletcher above Essien ... just hope he puts them right tomorrow with a typical Bison performance. The thread can be found HERE

They seriously rate him over Essien? Are they f**king serious? I know your supposed to back your own players but thats just ridiculous.

fact is tomorrows game is exactly what we need to give the team another full run out before next sat. - pre-season not gone well and partly cos carlo has played 34 different players!

anyway thats past - lets stuck into the mancs and see nico and drogs back on the score sheet

COYB

Essien is in the top five central midfielders in the world, at worst.

Watching the replay of the 2009 CS on TV right now, Bosingwa playing and watching him bomb down that flank makes me miss him even more.. Get well soon Bossy!

i agree that its all about getting fixed but if we got bet by the mancs that would be one win in five that cant be good for confidence it gave us great confidence last year winning on penos. football like ost sports is a confidence game. we lose tomoro the mediawill give us some stick. even when chelsea did nt have the best of teamswe always done well in pre season. i think its amust win game mr sride but i see what your saying

lol United fans. Fletcher has improved to one of the better CM about but Essien is the best at what he does in world football.

Mght log into my Torres a/c on redcafe and let them know.

just found that:

I think last year was their dead cat bounce. Without refresh they'll struggle to push City out of 4th.
:laugh2:

In fairness having just had a read, it seems it was more just one crackpot who was saying that based on the fact that Fletcher has actually played more than half of the games in the last two years. Which is pretty weak justification.

Essentially akin to saying Fletcher is better than Essien when Essien isn't playing. Which probably still isn't true :laugh2:
