Someone in South Africa plays FIFA 09. The song just going around when they were giving USA's medals was from the soundtrack of the game. Good song, too.

Not me. I logged onto extrabet.com at half time and was about to put £20 on Brazil winning at FT and I opted against it.

 
Ugh, just got back from the pub after watching us lose our lead, still a great tourney.

I can't help but watch Fabiano play well this tourney and think back to how often he was linked to us under Scolari and how he would've adapted to the EPL.

 
great effort and tournament for the usa, but that second half was right out of the thierry henry school of cup final bottling.

 
So did no-one else see this competition as a huge marketing scam? Brazil are told not to humiliate South Africa because doing so would have a negative effect on the level of interest in the next World Cup; the US are "helped" to gain the impossible 3-0/0-3 turnaround that enables them to progress, and interest in "soccer" rockets throughout the States.

The US and South Africa, two very poor teams, and yet the US knock Spain, and go 2-0 against Brazil. And Brazil appear to struggle against South Africa - never have I seen Brazil play a more un-Brazil like game than they did against South Africa.

They don't call it the Con-federation Cup for nothing.

Not at all - I've just got a very suspicious mind, especially when Blatter, Uefa & Fifa are involved.

 
GOod God - Onyewu has been largely average for years and years and then he has one good tournament and Milan buy him. Good to see Berlusconi is still in charge of transfers (or maybe one of his close 18 year old friends)

 
Well, he was available on a free transfer so it's not like it's a huge investment. He will probably be a back up player.

Ooh... I read in the paper that there's a really cool player called Gerrard... and my mate has a shirt with his name on it so he must be good. I think we should buy him.

lofty- brazil have often been turgid under dunga. when they play attractively it's more of a surprise these days!

 
Which all goes to show the amazing lengths Blatter and co will go to to achieve the results they desire.

If I wasn't so tired/lazy/completely and utterly bloody well knackered, and if I was fonder of using smileys. I'd look for that conspiracy smiley. But I am. And I'm not.
