David Luiz back at Chelsea

Kissing the badge 3 months ago, pushes for a move to a hated rival 3 months later, one day before the transfer window closes during a transfer ban. For me, this is worse than the Courtois situation. Courtois never had the same kind of connection with the fans and club like Luiz had. Luiz has dumped all over that though. People say he doesn't deserve boo's when he returns to the Bridge, but I wouldn't complain one bit if that is how the fans react to this. How would you expect fans to react to a player pulling a stunt like this? It's unreasonable to expect fans to not be anything but pissed at Luiz for this. So if they boo him on his return, then they should be allowed to do that without criticism.
Agree with this 100%, Im fine with him getting some stick when he comes back, obviously nothing too over the top, but its football at the end of the day, it is panto, and luiz leaving through the back door to that lot, has made him the panto villian.

Im sure when he's finished his career he will be welcomed back, as even gallas and poyet have been in the end.

On his day he is a great player, and considering the sh*t in arsenal's back 4, i think he will improve them, which is why i wouldve forced him to go elsewhere.

How much of a loss it is for us really depends on whether Christiansen or Zouma, can have an outstanding season.

When Guardiola took over Barcelona, he got rid of Ronaldinho, everyone questioned it at the time, but what it did was establish an authority, and i feel Luiz being shown the door will work out favourably for lampard in the long term.

At the end if the day, if a player isnt willing fight for his place in the team, i dont really want them here. Let them get there massive ego's massaged somewhere else.

Thanks for the good times DL, its a shame its ended line this.

Gallas welcomed back? News to me.

Luiz can rot in north London.

Why would he sign a 2 year extension then put in a request shortly after? He is pushing now because he wasn’t going to get started, he also wouldn’t have been played vs Barcelona etc if he had put in an early transfer.

What you’re saying is counter to every logic that people have used to understand what’s going on, Scott’s scenario is how everyone including “in the know” journos have read into it , no one would assume what you’ve said because it makes no sense in context of the events and timeline.
I'm pretty certain Luiz found out he wasn't starting on Sunday. Caused a stink. Lampard reacted by getting rid.

Luiz pushed himself out the door and at the point when he could have been a dignified senior member of the squad, he pushed against it.

For me, shame. But he's clearly a poison that had to go and I'm glad he has.

I'm guessing we're not looking to play out from the back this season then? Neither Zouma or Christianson have much composure on the ball.

I think this may end up in tears.

Bit sad in all truth, just as I was when he left for PSG the first time. A player I thought bled Chelsea blue. Shame. Life goes on, we have a side now in transition and a new era is upon us, so let's hope these young players we have step up to the plate.

Glad to see the back of him in all honesty, I’ve been quite vocal of having stated that I don’t believe he’s a good defender and was helped massively by the players he played alongside and particularly in Contes system.

I think he would have instilled negative characteristics in our younger players if he stated and potentially rubbed off on them.

i thank him for his service and the trophies he’s helped us win, but I can’t say I feel any great affection for him. If it’s true he forced this move because he wasn’t guaranteed to start every week then it’s quite a dick move!

I can't see him being on £230k a week. He may be on half that over a 2 year period.
Good catch, I didn't do the math, that definitely seems too high.  I'll see if I can find the tweet or article that I had read, maybe they have an explanation for the 12m figure.

I think Christensen is fine with playing out and even has the ability to charge forward into midfield with the ball.

He doesn't have the long passing range Luiz has though.

I really liked SSB more as a character and I welcomed him back even after his celebration when scoring in to us, knowing well he is a defensive liability, but for me leaving us on deadline day under a ban...slimy move.

I get he wants first team football but look what he has won with us..a bit of loyalty and support for the new manager, him ex team mate wouldn’t be too much to ask, even if he agreed to go in Jan when Rudi is back....sh*t box

The man has a couple of years of football left. It has become apparent that he is not in FLs plans. He has a few options,

1. Stay and be a leading influence in the squad playing a bit part role. Not sure what that role might be but it wouldn’t be teaching the youngsters how to defend. For this role we pay him about £10m per year for 2 years.

2. Stay and do f**k all only come in to train and generally be a poor influence on those around the club. For this we pay about £10m per year for 2 years.

3. He wants to extend his playing career and agrees with club that he should be transferred out even at this late stage. How amiable this decision was I haven’t a clue but I’d think it suited both sides. For this we save about £10m per year for two years plus whatever transfer fee.

im disappointed that he went to Arsenal but I think that it will take more than an ageing David Luiz to turn them into a top side.
