Estêvão

Every single one of our attacking players has been appalling for the last two games in a row. What does Estêvão have to do to see the pitch?

The thing is any time he is on the pitch he turns in a 2/10 performance. Nowhere near the required level yet.
When has he ever had a solid run in the team to allow himself to adapt to the Premier League? Every other player that has put in absolute stinkers keeps getting another chance, but Estevao gets nothing despite showing glimpses that he is more talented than 99% of the players at this club. Gusto, Fofana and Neto have been abysmally sh*t for the majority of the past 2 years, yet they still get starts. Saying he is nowhere near the level yet is just not true when he absolutely rinsed Barcelona last season. He's raw, but extremely talented and needs to be properly nurtured.

The way we have managed yet another top quality young player has been shambolic. Trust me on this, if we let this guy go, it will be another De Bruyne and Salah situation. Letting other clubs refine those two players was a mistake that cost us massively and they dominated an entire generation of Premier League football.

I do think people should relax on Estevao. People speak of him like his performances are Kvaratskhelia level of impact.
No they don't, they speak of him like he is one of the brightest young footballers in world football that needs a chance to actually grow into his potential.

You don't see Liverpool not giving Ngumoha chances.

I do see both sides of the argument.

There is no doubt that Estevao is a talent and 100% should have got minutes last night. But he is getting over a bad injury and I think Alonso does question his work ethic as well. Estevao has had moments in his time with us, but lets not pretend he is prime Hazard.

I could understand him not being in the side when we were playing well and getting results and the front 3 and even Neto looked undroppable. But our form and results have dipped, last night we had no Palmer and Pedro so we were crying out for a bit of what Estevao could provide, so it's difficult to understand why he wasn't given ANY minutes - even more so with penalties looming.

Frustrating that we let Ngumoha join Liverpool, when at times last night, he looked one of the best players on the pitch, whilst we have given minutes to the likes of Sancho. Garnacho, Mudryk, Gittens...............he looks better than all of them. Let's just hope we don't do the same with Estevao.

Pure speculation but wonder if this is a bit of an ego/power play from Alonso. RE it’s his side to pick and he won’t bow to outside pressure?

The beginnings of an ‘El Racismo’ conspiracy theory starting here… and then he continues with Fofana & Gusto to give credence to his bigoted views?!?

(please ignore Josh, Levi, Lacroix, Caicedo, Lavia, Rogers & JP for the purpose of sensationalised headlines)
Also sacked Sanchez at the first opportunity and replaced him with a white Argentinian. Makes you think.
