I appreciate that it is frowned upon if those who are not seasoned board members start threads, so apologies.

I noted that this lad has been drafted into the Welsh senior squad, which isn't remarkable in itself, other than the boy is sixteen years of age.

Rather than us bemoaning the lack of transfer activity it would be refreshing to focus on the development of a possible rising star (notwithstanding the fact that we are probably grooming him for some other clubs benefit!)

I know we signed him fairly recently, but I haven't seen a great deal written or spoken about him. Can somebody please provide an update regarding Ampadu's abilities, his position and the likelihood of his progression through our ranks?

I watched him in the U23 game where we lost 0-3 to Everton. He looked pretty good, his passing range was quite good and he looked composed. Phsycially he looks sort of like a mixture of Luiz and Ake, with his crazy hair. Really hard to tell with these kids though, some look amazing and never progress, some look average but improve loads. I'd expect a couple of more years in the development squad, then a few years of loans.

Never thought I'd see the day that a 16yr old is on the bench for Chelsea in this decade.

Correction: Make an appearance for Chelsea in this decade

There's me telling my kids and other youngsters that they should of been a teenager in the 80's as it was the greatest decade and then that appears! I best hide now

Other than the dodgy tache, I thought he looked good.  I like how he reads the game, almost the antithesis of Mikel in that he looks around before he gets the ball.  HIs passing was simple and direct, with moments of flair, and he's already physical for only having just turned 17.

Would just like to add, that the way in which he shows for the ball all the time, and was directing others, indicates to me he is also a leader on the pitch. A great quality amongst others to have.

yes very much so.  It was amazing to see just how easily he seemed to slot in straight away
